    Hi,

Same here. No point in backing up clutter.
On this occasion there wasn't all that much to be removed though.

    Cheers,

MS is now in the stage of keeping 21H2 (19044) in sync with 21H1 (19043) so when 21H2 is released it would be an easy transition.

I always delete the contents of LCU before making my Macrium backups. With a half dozen or so machines to back up those GBs add up, and I need to keep backups as slim as possible to fit them all on my backup drive.

@meebers, I don't recall ever being able to delete the LCU contents without first being asked to confirm my administrator rights, so I don't think it's something new with this update. Just wait until you get Windows 11, there security has been raised a notch, you first have to take ownership and grant yourself full control before you can delete a folder in LCU.

Last night I downloaded and installed the "Optional" KB5004296. After install and restart I could not access the start menu, it would flash up on the screen then as quickly drop off. I tried to get to Settings through the far right icon on the task bar and it did much the same thing. Tried a restart and still could not access start or settings. I finally managed to access Settings by right clicking on the desktop and opening /Display Settings/Home/Update and Security/View History and then Uninstalled the updates to recover my system. Seems like this is the second time I had this same problem because I tried the same upgrade through Preview. That time I recovered using Restore Point to get out of Preview. It was an alternative to a total clean install of Windows 10. Today I did not use the "Optional" update and everything is okay. Comments Please?

Solved the problem. After installing KB5004296 if you have your task bar set to top the problems persists, however, if you place the task bar on the bottom you gain "News" and you no longer have a problem with Start or Settings. Microsoft has done it to me again, this time in Windows 10. Just to be sure I looked in regedit and the part you could change to put the task bar on top is set to 01, they figured a way around that hack too. Talk about dominating your software, Microsoft is doing it!

I know HOW to delete the LCU folder. I just don't see the point.
The last (newest) folder in the LCU folder is only about a GB.
I noted you can't delete the last LCU folder in Windows 11. I'll give this update a miss considering all the issues reported.
