My personal take.... if you value your security and data ALWAYS patch any security holes discovered, even if you think "this doesn't affect me". Too many have the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude only to find out the hard way they should have patched.

    You PC, your data

    Peace

In view of that I decided to retain the Group Policy fix to disable network printing

I can't (won't) do that since I have network printers and network printing all the time. I have an Epson printer that's Wi-Fi only and another Epson that I use for my photo prints.

I'm going on the premise of 'no question is a stupid question', and hope no one literally dies over laughing at my lack of knowledge. That being said: my setup is simple: I have a computer at home that hooks up to the internet through a wifi router. I have a printer that my computer hooks up to through that same wifi router. I'm not aware of being on any networks, servers or anything else. So does this vulnerability affect me? :)

Well, I thought it was an appropriate follow-up to your "Yowza, that be it. . ."

    Wellsirs,

The MS servers must have been VERY busy serving the OTHER 1.5 billion Windows users this morning, cuz it took just over two HOURS for KB5004945 to reach 100% on my main machine. Short delay later, it installed in a jif, and an hour later I still see no problems.

I have disabled the GP printers setting on both my main machines for now, and printing from all three of my PCs to the wireless printer is still working perfectly. I haven't yet tried printing from the cloud, but I suspect that THAT will be affected by the policy setting. I don't know for sure (= I for sure don't know).

The printer is WiFi connected to your network [or by using WiFi Direct directly to each printer in turn]?

Mine is WiFi connected to my home network so your results are of great interest.
