Asus says yes, however, it won't have full functionality like an x570 board would give it. I'm hoping that MS stands down on their cpu requirement so the system can continue as is.
    Which X370 board?

Looking at a Crosshair VI Hero, I only see support through the 3000 series CPUs. ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO (WI-FI AC) | ROG Crosshair | Gaming Motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG USA

I thought they only pushed 5000 series support as far back as X470.

If that turns out to be the case, get a 3600X. No great loss compared to a 5600X.

Prime x370-A and the Asus documentation that I looked at stated that starting with bios version 2607 it was supported. If you look at the mb support page it doesn't reflect the information that the pdf I was looking at on their site was showing.

Consequently AMD warned Asrock about supporting the 5xxx with their x370 boards so Asus might have been forced to remove it as well. I noticed a trend in the bios updates where features were disabled when the user upgraded their cpu and I cannot find version 2607 anymore. Once upon a time I had it as I flashed her to it but deleted it with subsequent updates.

Even so a 3600 would work just as long as we can keep her machine running without spending a ton of money provided that I could find one not to mention that board is limited to 8 cores not that she would ever need that many.
