Stll chugging along. 3 hours in and installing 80%. Seems to be writing an awful lot to the event logs.

It has nothing to do with performance - it has to do with availability of certain CPU features deemed important for security.
That is a good point, and I think you've made that elsewhere. Maybe you or someone else far savvier than I on CPU specs can tell me which features are deemed "Win 11 essential" and are missing in mine.

This is a current HWINFO display, and I've pointed to the CPU area. The ones not in green I am assuming are not available on this i7-7700k. Which are "show stoppers"?

    Hi folks

    Trying via UUPDUMP
I managed to previously install the "unofficial leaked" version even though the W11 check tool said computer couldn't run it so I don't anticipate any problems.

Downloaded the ISO -- will install tomorrow.

    Cheers

11 seems nice and smooth so far. Looks good on an ultrawide monitor.

The right hand side of the taskbar is gonna surprise a whole lot of users. All of those functions are changed/different/added/removed/modify and generally head scratching. And Shawn, if you're looking , your batch file for adding seconds to the clock is kaput.

Over the years, Intel processors have accumulated a very large collection of chip features - one of the first requirements for some software back in the day was SSE2. Now there are dozens of these. I am nowhere near savvy enough to comment further, and it will take a darn savvy person to know what and why MS 'deems' that a cutoff made any sense between 7th and 8th gen

In their Blog I read today they seem to be looking at the 7th gen as being acceptable. Through the Insider program they will assess Security and Performance. They can't even justify the cutoff line.

    Second paragraph.
