It won't install at all !

I tried with WU, and at reboot it tells me that it cannot complete the installation !???
Same thing if I download it from the Microsoft Catalogue.

I used Brink's script to reset WU, and the problem remains !

    Hi there
Just curious but didn't Ms put a thing out a couple of days ago about not having any more WU's etc apart from security on W10. Now we've got "Midsummer Festival" (Jun 21) update !!!!

That said Enterprise edition (VL) seems just fine : Updated via WU.

    KB5003690 Windows 10 2004 19041.1081, 20H2 19042.1081, 21H1 19043.1081-ver.png

On a physical laptop - not a VM. Activated as normal : by workplace VL license as well.

It hosed up though Office 2019 activation with the License nag prompt -- just did the standard work around that's been posted on these forums

    Command prompt
    Run as administrator
    cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"
    Enter
    OfficeC2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13801.20266
    Enter

You then get the box Office is downloading updates
    Close command prompt
When you click an office application, there is no nag screen.
    You press File
    You press Update options
    Disable updates.

Ms need to get their Office license servers fixed -- lots of this seems to happen to quite legit licenses.I'm sure there's some sort of push to get everybody onto subscription office/365. In my case it's just not goung to happen.

    Cheers

I've installed this on 4 machines so far, and have the same odd result in all 4. I've checked around, and I am not the only one showing this, or to be more correct, not showing this. The CU itself is not logged in Reliability History but is fine in Update History under WU. Other entries are fine in RH..... Defender updates, .Net update, etc. It's just this CU, this time, did not log in Reliability History.

If you did the .Net and the CU at the same time, one restart for both, the .Net also does not show up in RH.

Something amiss with logging of this one, this time.

    Hi,

Since I wasn't able to complete the installation at reboot for KB5003690, I gave a try to the .Net's update, and I encountered no issue with reboot :

If I check in the update history (in settings), the failure of the update doesn't show up ???

It's the first time I'm having such an issue with WU !

Take a look at your Reliability History and see what it has logged.

I have noticed my aging i7-5960x is lagging behind after installing this CU. I have got a G-Sync compatible 27" 165Hz Asus monitor. Both CSGO and Grim Dawn are running poorer. I will investigate further this evening.

    Hi,

I checked in the Reliability History, and it's showing 3 failed attempts to install the KB5003690 !

I ran a sfc /scannow and there's no violation of integrity or damaged files ???

I tried to install it after the Microsoft trouble shooters, and it didn't work either.
