Task mgr icon no longer appeared in the SysTray {Notn area} [whether its window was open or minimized] despite all the appropriate settings still being in place.
- I used the TaskList command to check that it was still running.
- I have rebooted several times without any change.
Fixed
- I had removed the News & whatever icon from my Taskbar [using the Taskbar context menu] and wondered if this action had started the problem.
- I put News & whathaveyou back on the Taskbar *** and my SysTray TaskMgr icon reappeared [and stayed there when minimised]
- I removed News & blather from my Taskbar again and this time my SysTray TaskMgr icon remained visible [and stayed there when minimised]
- I rebooted to check it would behave itself afterwards and it does.

*** On one computer I had to reboot at this stage to get Task mgr to reappear

I had the same problem. It took a half hour to install for me after clicking restart.

It took a long time for me too after clicking restart. I didn't even get the net framework update either.
