Perhaps the issue is between running Beta channel vs Stable channel.... just a thought.
I'm not running the Beta channel on this system thus why I probably have no issues

I find that when I use System Storage and then use Disk Cleanup, DC always finds a lot of files. However, when I use DC first, System Storage finds nothing ??
When you clean up the lot with a front-loader, there's nothing left to find with a shovel.

I still use it (just used it). Works for me without issue. What specific issue are you having?
Hello. Good to know that it still works, at least for some. I've found that running the cleanmgr sageset/sagerun commands, along with the dism...startcomponentcleanup will actually remove something on here. Maybe it's come down to a question of preference.

Can you delete the Downloads folder in the Software Distribution folder once the update has installed successfully? I've been doing this but are there any risks? It's consistently like over 1/2 a GB, not that the space is sorely needed but I like things kind of tidy on here.

I just looked at my main computer with Pro Version 21H1 and that folder [totaling 1.9GB] mostly contains .cab files from the update yesterday. I'm going to leave it alone, take another look after the next Version Upgrade.

If the space is not sorely needed then don't waste time doing anything. Windows manages the space used so you can just leave it.

But if you want to reclaim the space then use this procedure:-

Same here, I am on Stable Channel like you, with no issues using either.

But as f14tomcat, advised yesterday (below), that should make no difference. So, I surmise perhaps there is another issue of sorts, for the user, 'plat'.

You and I, seem to be lucky.

They both currently have the same code so would make no difference. Both options have been available in RTM and Insider builds for some time.

There are no issues. As I said in an earlier post, it might have evolved into a routine that works for some and are preferred over others. Disk Cleanup isn't the only game in town, but if you like it, great!

Thanks for the replies, I'm good.
