    Maybe, but it doesn't:
    •Hide what I'm working on
Been through this scenario many times. Unless one has eyes like a chameleon that can focus and concentrate on two separate items at a time, it makes no difference if or where one opens a Start Menu or a Start Screen. Another reason to follow in the next point.

•Fill the entire screen with icons.
They’re not icons on the Start Screen. They are called tiles of which some are live that give much useful info at a glance while one is on the Start Screen even if for a few seconds. It is a matter of preference and I like it that way, especially upon boot. It's really all about gaining or sending data in the least amount of time. The Real Quality Boot Time of 8 Verses 7

Just like the Start Menu, a simple press of the WinKey or Start Flag gets one the Start Screen. Another WinKey or Start Flag gets one back to the previous screen.

I read that the live tile will be even more enhanced in 9.

I never mentioned the "Start Screen".
Your picture shows the "All Apps" screen.

So the "All Apps" screen has Live Tiles?
I never saw any in the W8.1 Ent Preview.

You don't have to be a chameleon to be to able to glance a few degrees either side of your centre of vision.

Ok. I got confused as to what we were discussing, for I went on to discuss the Start Screen.

You don't have to be a chameleon to be to able to glance a few degrees either side of your centre of vision.
That’s not the point. Sure one can glance either way at the speed of light. Not sure if a chameleon can concentrate on two objects at the same time, but how many human minds can? Can you? If not, therefore it doesn’t matter if it opens on the same screen or another full screen.

While one is cascading through the Start Menu odds are I will see the “tilette” (icon) to open the app before one gets to there’s. They aren’t icons on the Apps screen per se. They are mini representations of Start Screen tiles. We’ll call them tilettes.

    I hope they aren't "moist".

Lol! When I was writing that in Word auto correct did change it to "toilettes". I snickered.

BTW. It's good to see you posting again at 8F and now here at 9F, Mr. E.
