When I first tried to select firmware TPM in the BIOS of my Insider DEV Channel machine, it didn't work. But I checked and found there was an updated Intel Management Engine. After installing that, the BIOS setting worked. This is the result:

    @RingTailCoon.

In the devices tab in the bios you should have intel platform trust technology (PTT).

I was one of those that got caught up in the "technical difficulties" of the live event. I got bits and pieces thru main link, YT, Twitter, whatever was working at the time. Unfortunately, most of what I saw and remember was the useless game this, game that, Xbox, etc. It was real broken up for me. So............ did not catch that part. Thanks.
No worries, I only watched it an hour ago - with 0 technical difficulties.

Their tool says my system is not compatible with windows 11 and its a monster...LOL Sunday my ryzen 9 5950x arrives to replace my 3900x. I wonder if my XFX MERC 319 Speedster RX 6900 XT Black is too weak? MS needs to work on their compatibility tool.

I used the feedback hub to let them know about this.

You need to check for all things - being a monster doesn't mean jack if it doesn't meet all the requirements - like TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled in UEFI....

Good move and very happy that old machines are kept aside. They pollute the web, and they slow down technology.

    Bye-bye Legacy mode,

    Minimum system requirements

    Code:
Processor	1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
    Memory	4 GB RAM
Storage	64 GB or larger storage device
System firmware	UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM	Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
    Minimum system requirements

Graphics card	DirectX 12 compatible graphics / WDDM 2.x
Display	>9” with HD Resolution (720p)
Internet connection	Microsoft account and internet connectivity required for setup for Windows 11 Home

Certain features require specific hardware, see detailed system requirements.

"Bloat" is highly subjective, it's only natural for new stuff to be introduced as well as new HW requirements or it wouldn't be new !!
Let's see or try official version first without prejudging. There was more resistance to W10 and see where we are now.

In my case, I knew I had a TPM and I had secure boot on, so the Health thing "lied" to me, and I knew it. To prove it, I made a thumb with Rufus and booted and installed.

I don't know what would happen if the machine simply did not have it and that was tried.
It lied to me when I checked my Acer Spin laptop. It does have TPM 2.0 and it is turned on. It did say my new PowerSpec desktop is a go. I haven't checked my old PowerSpec desktop yet.

Same machine I did a clean install of Win 11 gives me this on a in-place upgrade of Insider VM running on it. Balderdash. VMWare is not up to snuff or the Setup is not.

My new desktop passed when I check from Windows 10. I tried it in Windows 11 in VMware it failed.

There's a pattern here............. I've been able to install or update everywhere except VMWare. That does tend to point a finger. I do not know of any switch or setting to activate a VMWare "virtual" TPM, maybe @jimbo45 does.

For me Windows 11 installed and runs fine in VMware. I'm surprised that my desktop failed while being in Windows 11. I'm not that concerned though. Once Windows 11 is officially released I'm going to update my Windows 10 Dev build and stop using VMware to run Windows 11.

Watched the event, not live, and not completely, but enough to confirm that Microsoft was correct. Windows 10 is the very last version of Windows . . . that I will ever install.Talk about bloat. Just give me an Operating System that works, and works well. I'll worry about the rest.
7 worked well. 10 has been great too. They make a pretty decent OS.
