Thanks! It is roughly a month old then. I suspect that there will be a new build for us soon since, assuming previous insider dev ring schedules, this is the time amount for up to 4, but at least two builds.

I find it to be unlikely for them to release the exact same build

But this Win11 thing seems really goofy, so far. Seems Microsoft has to make the licensing seamless with Win10--retail versions are supported for the life of the user and OEM versions for the life of the motherboard, etc. If not, I can already see the lawsuits flying. It just seems strange.
Don;t forget that this is not a finished product, in fact never meant to be released. Therefore it may not have it's licensing ready. WE should presumet NOTHING based on this leaked stuff in terms of activation. Especially we must not go to conclusions like 'this thing accept windows 10 licenses' , it is a 'free upgrade' or likewise.

It is clearly highly identical to Windows 10, as per this leaked build goes. But that might change and it might be in an early stage.

Please remember, starting from Windows 7, Microsoft involved the public in beta testing the OS and many details, incl beta builds were released. Not about this one, not yet. It is not likely that they had developed a completely new OS in the silent background. More likely only yet started to evolve Windows 10 and we will get access during the summer

if you remember... the early windows 7 betas were not so much different than vista... or 8's core (apart from the ui(\) being similar to w7 when it was in beta

Also, 10 had a long public beta testing, I suspect 11 will too. I don't think that 10's insider program will turn into windows 11, but might give an option to upgrade to windows 11's beta and enter that OS's insider program, while w10's insider pp may cease operations in a few years time

Testing phase doesn't look likely to be long if changes are indeed only to GUI as it is now.

My thinking about it too, On 24th they may announce it and make it available to insiders first. There was a hint about it in e-mail they sent me. Right at bottom there was suggestion to and how to join Insider program.

I just did a email search for Microsoft to see if I received a email and found a new email scam. The email is thanking me for purchasing the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection for $299.99. The return address starts out microsoft.payment followed by random letters and numbers. They have a 808 number to call for any questions. I hope no one falls for this scam.

The scam is still going around. I get email and text alerts from my credit card companies any time a purchase is $50.00 or more. I also get alerts if the purchase wasn't made using the actual card.

If MS decides to release any new builds this week be it Win 10 or Win 11 I'm prepared. I made my Macrium image this morning. Now to make my EaseUs Todo backup.

There are a lot of things in the background that simply are not there in the leaked build. One user asked how to associate a file with another application - all of that has been removed from the default open with menu in Windows 11. There are more than a few other things also missing.

Whether those get added in later or not, we'll see. But there are a lot of things both backend and front end that need to be fixed before this can go live.

And if they seriously think this can go live this year, I need to have a 1:! chat with a certain Mr. Nadella. Quite possibly with a baseball bat in hand.

Summer next year seems barely reasonable. Next month? fuggedaboutit.
