Watch what is next for Windows event on June 24, 2021

Nothing as they at least make sense from a visual perspective unlike many of the new one in the latest DEV builds.

We need a Vista 2.0 not crappy 7/8/8.1/10 each build getting more cut out it.

Ms doesn't make shedloads of money out of Windows on consumer / home users PC's any more (and it's nothing to do with Piracy either) -- it's not the mega earner as before. Cloud services AZURE, A.I. Robotics, some gaming X-box stuff , Office subscriptions, and consultancy are where it's all at currently so Ms's strategy will IMO be looking to monetise users of Windows in other things that can run on it.

As far as Windows backgrounds are concerned -- my 2 favourites were VISTA's Glass theme and XP's Black LUMA - both beat W10 themes hands over fist.

MS made most of their money back in the day from Office over Windows.

I liked XP MCE Royale but MS got pissed when it was leaked as standalone for non MCE XP but then allowed users to use it outside MCE due to overall good feedback/demand.

Also that Silver one was nice.

Another earnings stream for Microsoft was of course the OEM markets, although the OS was heavily discounted to the OEM the support costs were passed on to the OEM so cost Microsoft very little, as they did not have to spend as much money to train and pay support staff.

What the consumer market did for microsoft was made Windows the go to operating system for people to use at work and thus made business markets purchase it,

I still think as far as Windows for consumers is concerned Ms will be trying to find some sort of income stream even if they can't turn Windows into a subscription service. I'm sure there's plenty of people at Ms who can devise all sorts of revenue streams -- pity that their QC dept doesn't have (or appear to have) the same skill set. !!

Hope you're watching Wales V Switzerland today in the Euros !!!! Swiss Cheese isn't my favourite and I've enjoyed myself in Wales on various visits in the past (when I can understand them) in spite of the worst potholes on roads in major cities (Cardiff/Swansea) that I've ever seen (or felt in a bumpy car) in my life so good luck to the Welsh today.
