Apply the image to a small partition using dism or dism++ or gimagex, or wimlib, or even7zip, then add a boot menu entry to your current win10 bcd and see how it goes.

If you get a message from win10 boomgr claiming it doesnt recognize win 11 winload , then rename win10 bootmgr and copy win11 bootmgr onto the esp partition
    What image?

Instead of a normal install? I'm not following what that would get you.

This is the way I usually install windows. I dont normally use windows setup. Create partition. Apply image to it. Add boot menu. I have been doing it like that for years.

Then when you boot into it, it does the getting devices ready and all that stuff.

Normally bcdboot is an easy way to get the boot critical files and bcd entry done.

But in this case you dont necessarily want to do that because it will replace your win10 bootmgr.

So just try adding the boot menu entries manually with bcdedit and see if win10 bootmgr does the job or has a moan

    Thanks TC

I'm not sure I understand how I would install Windows 11 leaked ISO to a small partition new partition that I do have room to create? Would that happen without breaking my current RTM Windows 10 install?

My main question which nobody can probably answer now is will I be able to upgrade my PC meeting all requirement other than CPU (it has a 6th gen i7) from RTM Windows 10 to RTM Windows 11 when it is released in fall 2021/spring 2022.

    Thanks
Intel 6th should be fine to get Windows 11, but anything prior to 6th gen could not get Windows 11, or run it exposed to security vulnerabilities.

Intel 6th gen has the same microarchitecture "Skylake" List of Intel CPU microarchitectures - Wikipedia, but it is has more security vulnerabilities has been addressed in the 7th gen. In the table you can see Intel 6th gen sits alone, while 7th gen and 8th gen sit together.

For anyone, to be sure check Intel table, if you see there is "No planned mitigation" to fix CVEs for your CPU, you could be vulnerable, but still you can still install and run Windows 11.

    @RingTailCoon.

I hadn't seen your post where you indicated that you had looked in system information for secure boot.

Open a thread for this problem, you should be able to activate it I'm sure.

Works fine b75 mobo i3-3220 cpu. No tpm no secure boot.

It is only by looking in msinfo you can see it hasnt done the "automatic" encryption because no tpm2.
