    I have no problems with tabs or anything else with the new FF.
    I use my laptop more than any of my other computers. After Firefox updated to 89.0 it was unusable. The tabs had moved to the bottom. Worse yet no matter how many tabs were open only the current one was visible. I had no way to select any other tab. What a mess. For now I am running Firefox 88.0.1 on my laptop.

    I am writing this on my Desktop #1 which updated to FF 89.0 OK.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Would this work?
    • Export the bookmarks in FF 88.0.1
    • Uninstall FF 88.0.1
    • Install FF 89.0
    • Import bookmarks

    I had the exact same issue when using the 3.1.8 Chrome folder (userChrome.css).

    my Tabs were at the bottom of the FF window.
    only ONE tab was showing, no matter how many I had open
    I could only click on the Tab that was showing.

    I restored from a backup (back to 88.0.1), and I switched to version 3.2.0, then updated to 89.0, and all was well again.

    I swapped out the entire Chrome folder... not just the userChrome.css file.

    /edit

    I realize you may NOT have been using a Chrome folder, but there was obviously something similar with what happened to your FF and to my FF.

    You are right. I had version 3.1.6 from almost a year ago. I had forgotten about it since I had not done anything with it since then. I temporarily commented out the chrome folder and then updated to FF 89.0. This time the update came out OK. I am now going to go back and delete the chrome folder since I will not be using it. Thanks for coming up with the solution. Now I can turn on updates again.

    Before you delete the Chrome folder...

    You can use the old userChrome.css to go down the list and copy w/e settings you do want to keep to the new version 3.2.0.

    Your choice ofc. But once you delete the old userChrome.css...it's a lot harder.

    Keep in mind, that you would need to use the entire new Chrome folder.
    You can't just copy/paste userChrome.css

    Actually I temporarily renamed the Chrome folder before updated to 89.0. That way Firefox would not even know it was there. Now it has been deleted.

    I had probably used the Chrome folder for over a year to restore some the classic look of Firefox. Eventually I decided not to bother with it anymore.

    BTW, I had documented the changes I made to userChrome.css. I did that so I can add back the changes any time.

    Sounds like you're good to go then.

    An issue I've seen involved the DuckDuckGo Search page, when typing in its Search box the text would jump to the URL/Address box. It was solved by deleting the shortcut on the FF Bookmark Toolbar, open a new www.duckduckgo.com page then drag a new shortcut to the Toolbar. A note, I prefer avoiding Google Search.

    By the way I'm on build 2004 19041.508 and it went all white and grey with v89.0

    I Just disabled Proton with Firefox Tweaker and back to the way I like it.
    Or you can try these settings.

    In about:config...

    browser.proton.enabled = False
    browser.aboutwelcome.design = False
    browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled = False (bookmarks spacing)
    Thanks for the browser.proton.enabled = False tip. No more white/gray.
