    I did a 'system restore' to before the ff update and turned off ff auto update. worked perfectly.
    I hated Firefox 89.0. I tried to go back to Firefox 88.0.1 but it refused to use my current profile and created a new one instead.
    I had to do a system restore like you did to bring back Firefox 88.0.1 and my profile. It took me years to create that profile.
    I also turned off auto update. Now if it would only stop nagging me about the new update.

    I almost forgot. I need to stop auto update on my other computers also.

    The biggest thing I hate about Firefox 89.0 is what they did with tabs. What a mess.

    Is there any way to restore the way tabs were before? If there is I might even turn auto update back on.

    Hi there
    You can also run the "Nightly build" concurrently with the standard build !! so you can check differences in behaviour etc etc.

    A fresh new Firefox redesign is here-ff.png

    Not sure what the beef is about tabs -- I use bookmarks and menus - lack of cascadable menus on Edge and Chrome are the main reasons I don't use those -- Please developers I'm using a PC with 3 - 4 large monitors --it's not an "Overgrown Mobile phone" or tablet.

    @Ground Sloth (and others)

    I'm not a fan at all of "Dark Themes" which seem to be increasingly popular -- especially hard to read on some web sites where backround is black and text in some shades of light purple or blue. However that's "peoples choice" so I'm not commenting further on that one.

    Cheers

    I don't know for certain, but it sounds like it may be a "Night Light" setting that is interfering with the gamma or some other contrast setting. Try turning everything off you can find that might be interfering, including temp disable any GPU card and run on the On-board GPU to see if you can isolate it.
    I've now seen it on 3 different computers, all with very different graphics hardware. I think parts of the dark theme UI were designed to be slightly purple, but it's subtle enough that some people might not perceive it due to their work environments or other reasons.

    Yuk they made it look like chrome and I hate chrome
    Firefox was its own individual look and feel, now they are going down the same path as crappy Microsoft Edge and Chrome Noooooo.
    Gone all white and Plain I don't like it.

    That is my feeling too! It looks like Chrome. If I wanted to use Chrome I'd use Chrome! I find the text too small as well. I'm getting used to it but not keen. What I particularly dislike is how it changes the feel of familiar websites - the usual pop ups are changed to the firefox look too - that really confused me!

    Mine is all white/grey too. Is this normal? I had just installed Windows 21H1 and the change appeared then when I downloaded Firefox - so wasn't sure if it changed with the Windows Feature update or just new Firefox.

    I think what you're noticing is that the default themes no longer use your Windows accent color in the tab bar.

    By the way I'm on build 2004 19041.508 and it went all white and grey with v89.0

    I Just disabled Proton with Firefox Tweaker and back to the way I like it.
    Or you can try these settings.

    In about:config...

    browser.proton.enabled = False
    browser.aboutwelcome.design = False
    browser.proton.contextmenus.enabled = False (bookmarks spacing)
