    10.0.21390.1 All Good

    Dear Edwin,

I don't have the side effects you have when removing Edge, old Edge and IE (error since 2 builds).

Edge Chromium removal: Revo + Revo backup manager + Restart + Ccleaner_Pro leftover + related services disabled. Nothing else.

Search works in file explorer and the rest too.

How are you removing chromium? Is there a cmd line or reg tweak used that may or may not affect desktop stability?

    ****

Offline, previous ISO stalls for 4-5 minutes at Starting Services when doing a clean install.

I made a bootable stick of this build, so will see next time. The upgrade took longer than usual, but it runs ok.

    ****

Yes, I tried Gnome 40 Marty with no success and it was unstable a few weeks ago. Activities appears to be the master switch, but I've removed it for 2 decades with gnome-tweak-tool.

I will certainly retry it in Manjaro later in the cycle. But our preference goes to KDE.

    All the best,
      My Computer

As they say, that's what makes the world go round I think the place to try Gnome is Fedora Rawhide - very stable on my machine. It doesn't work yet on Manjaro. The last time I tried Windows on the physical machine it green-screened on me. I waited while MS collected the data but they really should put in the coding to let you look at what info you are sending them. Pretty much every Linux lets you do that.

MS have really lost the plot on Insider versions now. If the highlight of a development is fluent icons, you have to wonder if the new management have any idea about real changes e.g. tabs with file explorer, improved partition management, improved data backup tools, improvements to hyperV (e.g. allow sound for Linux). Nope -all we get is endles garbage about icons, emojis etc. Dona - be proud, the new management have continued your legacy of dumbing down developments.

I guess if you employ kiddiwinks to come up with ideas, you will only get garbage about emoticons and similar. So sad that the Insider Programme has become so dumbed down.

I was very much into linux at one time. Linux Mandrake with KDE was my favorite. Before I could buy the boxed CDs at Best Buy I would download new builds over a dial-up internet connection. It would take about 3 days. Sometimes longer before I started using a download manager. I switched to Linux because I really hated Windows Vista. It wasn't until I became a tester for Windows 7 that I switched back to Windows. Now I just dabble around with Linux Mint. I can truthfully say that Windows 7 brought me back and Windows 10 is keeping here. I was close to going back to Linux when Windows 8 first came out.
I have always loved KDE since version 3.

As I'm not a gamer I pretty much only ever use Windows on a VM these days -- Office 2019, Photoshop and some corporate apps for accessing SAP (ERP) type databases etc is about the only things I run on it plus some cloud storage.

    @swarfega

try latest KDE plasma with Wayland -- plenty of distros to try it on - OPENSUSE, FEDORA,ARCHLINUX,DEBIAN etc. You don't need to install all the kde apps just install the desktop and xorg/warland-session then install kde apps you want to reduce size of install. Quick and easy test - download the kde version (live distro) from FEDORA SPINS and simply boot and run from USB device.

    Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop

    Cheers

Saw a couple of articles at Ghacks.net. Similar elsewhere. But nothing really dramatic, same as MS articles

Brink posted News about release, but no Tutorials (yet)

First place I looked was TUT never thought about News. Ran it via Windows Terminal so it's already installed. Thanks Andre.
