Can't help wondering.. as 21H1 was mostly bug fixes, how come this one covers perhaps an even longer list? Hmm...

Downloaded the .msu and tried to install but it said that it was already installed!
But .NET was offered and installed.

Downloading and installing now: seems pretty routine, if a little subject to fits, starts, and redos.

Production PC: Under 90 seconds to download and verify, installing now underway ... install didn't start counting until 48 seconds after start, go to 100% in under a minute anyway, sat at 100% for over a minute, redid the install count, jumped to 21%, sat there for a long while (3 minutes), jumped to 45% (25 seconds), sat at 73-74% (2+ minutes), goes into 70x-82 count, sits, jumps to 90, sits, gets to Restart button about 40 seconds later. Definitely on-again/off-again rhythm.

ThinkPad X12 got to 100% in about 20 seconds on download, sat at 100% for 30 second, got to 100% installed in another 30 seconds, sat at 100% for about 25 seconds, restarted install count to pause at 21% (less than a minute), jumps to 45% (ditto), jumps to 73-74%, sits (minute or longer),counts to 89%, sits, jumps to 100%, goes straight into restart button. Took a good 2 minutes less than the Skylake vintage i7 in my production PC to complete.

That is correct. Many of the system objects follow the base kernel level.

Has anyone who has been having Desktop refresh problems installed this update? If so, would you mind posting back in a week or so to report if it has made any difference?

I ask because of this bit, that dalchina helpfully brought to my notice in another thread,

    Hi @Denis,
As far as I remember, right after my last clean install 10 days ago, I deleted the Edge icon on the desktop and after the following restart an empty icon with MS Edge was still present.
I don't know how it disappeared and now, with this CU have no clue if the issue is fixed. Anyway, small things.

Since at least a year ago, I was able to replicate this zombie file issue every single time with screen scaling or Mouse Wheel Desktop icon resizing.

Desktop icon of moved or deleted file reappears after scale change

Ctrl- Mouse Wheel also creates the desktop Zombie file

    Now I can not.
