Windows 10 as a whole is poorly coded. Going from 19041 to 19042 to 19043 with everything in between is pure laziness. In 19043.1023 there are over 500 references to 19044.XXXX??
It's pretty complex to support a gazillion different hardware devices that keep changing ...

I have also turned it off, but I think it is the reverse, i.e., the "News and Interests" widget that is breaking the other icons. I wish I could find a way to make it only appear in the fly-by box from the upward arrow.
Remember that Microsoft is getting rid of driver control panels on the taskbar --- like the old Realtek HD Audio Manager.

It is the legacy taskbar control panels breaking the "news and interests" widget.

    OK, they break each other

If I understand correctly, you want to disable News on hover with mouse?

There is Tutorial (by Brink of course..):

In Short: Enable or Disable Open News and Interests on Hover

This update is widely reported as affecting the system tray in various ways. It can make the whole lot disappear if News and Interests is off, and have other effects on icons and font sizes in the tray.

Don't install KB5003214 if you want to avoid taskbar errors

Windows 10 users affected by this bug found that it could be fixed by uninstalling the KB5003214 preview update, but unless Microsoft fixes the issue before June 8th's Patch Tuesday, all users will be faced with this issue.

Thx mates for all the suggestions. I basically know about all that. My real beef with this widget is when I accidentally hover the mouse in the notification area, it will just pop up. Very irritating!. My solution is to turn it off when I don't use it.

Pretty wild all you need to do is run a few commands that came with this update & you get pushed to 21H2 19044.1023

    Attachment 335266

Far as i can tell tho it's pretty much the same as running the 21H1 enablement package...no major changes as i see.
What happens if you try to do an in-place upgrade using the 19043 ISO? Does it fail as the ISO is a lower build than the installed one?

Unchecking that "open on hover" doesn't work?

I don't know but I have just checked it and played with it a bit. It seemed to be working the way it is supposed to in my Hyper-V VM. It also seems to be working on my normal regular installation.

    ----updated----

Another reason why I just turned "News and Interest" off instead of unchecking "Open on Hover" is because there is a total incompatibility between a third-party app "WindowBlinds" from Stardock and "News and Interests" widget. The two don't play nice with each other. It' either one or the other.

It works for me Andre. But not very well so I just click on it.
