Windows Threshold screenshot leaks: What's there, what's not

But there are some features that aren't there, or at least aren't fully there, yet — which is to be expected, given this alleged partner build is still a fairly early one (and possibly the same one that Microsoft plans to distribute as its coming public Enterprise Tech Preview). The browser included in the leaked build is IE 11, for example, rather than a more recent version.

The Charms bar is another example of a feature that's still in flux. While my tipsters have said the Threshold team was (and still is) leaning toward eliminating the Charms bar altogether from Threshold, the Charms are likely to still be part of the Threshold Enterprise Tech Preview that Microsoft is expected to make available late this month or in early October, my sources say. In part, that decision is due to the fact that app vendors haven't yet incorporated some of the Charms functionality, like printing and sharing, directly into their apps.
    The rest

Frankly it looks appalling. Flat and fast it may be but I like my eye candy. As a non gamer that is the reason I bought a far more powerful graphics card so I could run aero, animated wallpapers and so on. I would like to know what "Legacy Features" are. As for the store and the metro crap they can stick it. So far it does not woo me to move from 7. Like everything though this could be running on a small less powerful device rather than a virtual machine set to 1GB ram so it may have aero but it is disabled. If Aero does not return I'll be running 7 till 2020 and even longer on all but one machine. The one maching will have the latest OS on it for testing purposes. Linux Mint is looking better and better.

Looks like classic shell will still be needed to fix it. There is no way in hell that I will accept metroturd apps in my start menu.

Sadly, it seems like they really haven't learned a damn thing... and are just trying a new way to sneak in those turdish metro apps that have been thoroughly rejected....

    Very disappointing.

Nothing wrong in staying with W7 is there mate? I believe it will be supported until 2020.

What I find interesting is that there is a scroll bar with only 14 items on the start menu, is it not dynamic. I usually have 20+ menu items on my start button and no scroll bar, I think I can populate it with up to 25 items and no scroll bar.

I like Aero, I don't see why it couldn't be an option for those that like it.

I also, like the Charms bar, wish they would leave that.

But then again, I am content with Windows 7, and Windows 8.0/8.1 with my Start 8 menu and Modern Mix.

Flat is fast huh? My good looking 7 is fast. I would assume a good looking 9 would be at least as fast. Some don't care about the "eye candy", but I do. A Guy

Aero has gone into the Recycle Bin to be tossed out with the rest of the rubbish that hideous UI/UX design form introduced. Good freaking riddance I say. I don't want a UI where only a marginal 10% of the it is what is considered "eye candy." I'd rather have the rest of the UI, the WHOLE UI, be my eye candy, not shiny window borders and glossy drop shadows. It was designed in 2006 and should stay in 2006.
