But there's always the alternative MyIE
An organisation I volunteer for as IT support has an older security system that provides remote images. The only access is through IE with the security company's proprietary plug-in that only works on IE ... as well as MyIE. But not on any other browser.
I always thought IE9 and upwards weren't that bad of browsers. Chromium Edge is awesome though.
I like IE.
I will miss its ability to work with me about Favourites instead of regarding them as its own property.
- I can save a Favourite and it's straight in the file system as a url file so I can use it within IE immediately or I can drag it into another folder for retention [my Digestive biscuits folder contains spreadsheets, pdf files, url files, text files] instead of having to maintain "Bookmarks" as a parallel filing system.
- TenForums and WindowsQuestions are two of the few websites I can still reliably use IE with anyway and they are the ones I make/alter most Favourites in.
- When [was it Windows 95?] I first found IE I thought it was a huge step forward to be able to save Favourites as url files instead of the Bookmarks that Netscape Navigator[?] kept to itself. But I also remember thinking that the name Favourites was treating users as children.
I will not miss my concern about the passwords it saves [for my convenience & with my permission]. I am aware of the utilities that anybody with access can run to grab the lot of them in the blink of an eye.
- In Edge, they seem to be safe from infiltration without any particular action being taken.
- In Firefox, I need to use a Primary password [the new name for Master password] to stop infiltration {and that's assuming the password thieving utilities I tested it against are typical}.
