Hello everyone. I have a question about windows 10. can anyone help?
I have been logging on to my PC for years using just the PIN, but I have a program that requires my Windows password, and I can't recall it. I can't share folders without it, and I can't manage my credentials without it.
Can I change or reset the password after logging on with my PIN - AND not mess up access to my my credentials?
About passwords- I have a Microsoft Live account, and a half dozen logins on Roboform. I have a Microsoft Tech Net login, a OneDrive login and even a Developers login. All different. And none work on my desktop PC for the Windows Login.

If you sign in with windows live mail (assume that you used this before - to activate Windows) you should be able to do it. Just remember to use you e-mail for username and your Windows live password for pass

If you are logged in as admin (with PIN) you should be able to create a new user - and set password for him

Will users of some older hardware actually receive notification from Microsoft updates that their hardware will not be updated to 20H1? My Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 (1.8GHz Core Duo and 4GB RAM) is still waiting for the 20H1 call. I have just overseen the update of another PC with a 2GHz Core Duo and 4GB RAM being offered 20H1 so hope still flickers.

How the heck do I get 21H1? It's been offered for weeks on all but two of my computers. I tried the enabling package or whatever but it fails to download.

Heck no. I am not doing a upgrade install. I want it updated via WU.

I thought this would work but it doesn't download

    HI,
    Not sure why not
Both will make a system image before installing
Only real difference is you don't have to wait during the install for it to download the iso file you've already done that in advance.

Why not use the update now feature on their MCT page?

For users of old slow PCs, the media creation tool is NOT the route to go. Using it, I can update my Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 (1.8GHz Core Duo, 4GB RAM) device but it takes at least 5 hours and the feature update via WU takes only a few minutes which was my experience when updating via WU from 2004 to 20H2.

Microsoft is being extremely unhelpful by obstructing us in this way. Who are they protecting? So what if the attempt fails. I am well aware of the problems with old slow hardware and know the risks entailed. If it fails then I shall install Linux and life will go on. The device is 14 years old, FFS. It's been on borrowed time for years but its performance is still acceptable.

Just install KB5000736, no Iso needed.
