    While waiting for the new build that never seems to come I installed Virtualbox and pretty quickly set up an instance of this build and got a screenshot of the screensaver. You do need a valid license key for Windows to be activated which is a must for me since I strongly favor the dark theme. I have two from the dayls when it was inexpensive and one given to me by a kind MS employee doing tech support.

    Windows 10 Insider Preview Dev Build 21376.1 (co_release) - May 6-screenshot-2021-05-13-02-48-54.pngThis is a screenshot from a forced update to a VMware VMWindows 10 Insider Preview Dev Build 21376.1 (co_release) - May 6-screenshot-2021-05-13-03-07-45.pngAnd this screenshot from the Virtualbox VM which was most recently created. Unfortunately, QEMU/KVM and Gnome Box seem to be incompatible with Virtualbox. Thus I will leave these two VMs running and see if they pick up Thursdays's build.

    Thanks for that advice @jimbo45. I'm not sure what possessed me to try Hyper-V again but I will follow the instruction in the link I posted after the next update. Of course, being mushrooms, we don't know but it seems that that the insider team has decided to release builds on Thursday rather than Weds. Who knows - we will see.

    BTW I have had no problems, with any Linux, using RAID 0 my VMs, both VMware and QEMU/KVM have been quite safe - at least since the kernel problem last year.

    however on Arch Linux vmware gets automatically updated on Kernel update :

    2/2) Remove DKMS modules
    ==> dkms remove --no-depmod -m vmware-workstation -v 16.1.1_17801498 -k 5.12.2-arch1-1
    ==> depmod 5.12.2-arch1-1
    .....

    ==> dkms install --no-depmod -m vmware-workstation -v 16.1.1_17801498 -k 5.12.3-arch1-1
    ==> depmod 5.12.3-arch1-1

    No user action needed !!!! and always current with appropriate kernel headers.

    BTW this release of Windows is working perfectly on a VM both VMWare and KVM - am working on attempting to convert the KVM version to an installable ISO so it has all my installed software - I need to inject the VIRTIO HDD drivers into the BOOT.WIM and the INSTALL.WIM so when the ISO is booted on to the VM it will recognize the HDD for me to capture the image from that Windows system to apply it to a real machine.

    Cheers

    No biggie. It's beyond repair!
    I've grown so tired of these sh*tty Builds lately that I don't care anymore!

    Thanks though!

    Yes, I haven't seen a build this bad in literally years--it's so bad it won't even install for me--while I had no problems with 21370. While I could understand this happening five years ago, which it did, often, in the beginning--there is simply no excuse for it happening today, imo. Microsoft never seems to tire of throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

    I will likely go back to the Release Preview channel because this kind of thing is a waste of everyone's time. It's a much more sane place to be...

    @jimbo45 - I emptied the Inbox for @martyfelker so we can discuss Linux specific issues without annoying these all Windows users. However, I should get back my Eluktronics notebooks with an Intel/Nvidia chipset C & G PU's - then I "might" make this machine all Linux - depends on how stable the fix is from Eluktronics. I just wish I'd waitied a few weeks for their AMD/Radeon chipset version. They won't do an exchange - pity - I can justify another 3kUSD notebook.

    Waiting, waiting for the next Windows build. I hope they will tell us if they had to skip another week.
