The news and interest taskbar feature turned up in all 6 here laptops this morning - three after a reboot, and three of it's own accord. I got a Store update for MSN weather prior to the feature appearing. I'm in a country where Cortana is not supported and KB5001391 was installed 2 days.

Not sure if the MSN weather update triggered it, or it was just my turn in the roll out. In any case it's nice for those who want it, but I've turned it off in my taskbar settings. I like uncluttered.

same here, after a 2nd reboot though, it started appearing in full detail.
i turned it off, i guess it was turned off by default before this update?

Hmm, good call. None of my machines have seen 'news and interest' on the taskbar yet, but then I have the Store set to not update automatically.

I manually updated News, Weather and, for good measure, the English (United Kingdom) Local Experience Pack. After a Restart it appeared.

News and Interests showed up after a Weather app update. To the left of the "show hidden icons up arrow", I have an icon for HP Support Assistant and with the new feature set to "show icon only", the spacing is correct.

With "show icon and text", spacing is way off. Maybe it needs the room if the text needs it?

I've also noticed on my set up, if I try to manage interests and configure things, the settings do not hold. Perhaps an MS account is needed for that? I'm using a local account.

What is the version of your MSN Weather app that possibly triggered the News and Weather Widget?

Weather app version 4.46.31121.0 did it for me. You may or may not need to restart your computer after the app updates.

I have the same version but no widget for me. I guess it's a combination of things that activates the widget.

News and interest showed up on my taskbar this morning on it own. I did nothing to enable it. I do turn my computer off every night and restart in the morning.

Ok. There's also settings - personalisation - taskbar - notification area and select which icons appear on the taskbar.

It would probably work regardless of the option you ticked.. Can you switch back, just for the testing purposes?
Sorry if I get anybody confused about my posts with respect to "News and Interests" icon on the taskbar. The culprit was a third-party app that I use called WindowBlinds. The latter uses skins to change the look and feel of the UI. If I put the Default theme, i.e., no skin at all, everything is working fine as they should, meaning I can see the upward arrow for "Show hidden icon" whether I choose "Show Icon and Text" or "Show icon only" in the context menu of News and Interests.
