    Point of interest. My neighbor got the weather app update this morning and right-clicking the notification area showed news and interests with show icon and text checked. However, the icon and text did not appear in the notification area and nothing showed on the display. She restarted the computer four times -- still nothing. I suggested she shut down the computer, wait a few minutes, and then turn on her laptop. News and interests then started working properly. Another MS mystery.

    News & Weather appeared for me after toggling "Always detect my location & Default Location (also set to your local location)" in MSN Weather app and I also checked Settings > Privacy settings > App permissions > Location, and set all relevant buttons to ON including Weather.

    I don't understand why people are so difficult about it, but now that I have the weather and interests in my taskbar ... nice and handy! This way I can see at a glance what the weather will be like and what the latest news is. Okay, linking with my Microsoft account doesn't work. Why? I wouldn't know but who cares? (I really have an account!) But if that's the only thing that doesn't work, I'm not going to remove it from the taskbar just yet. They should have done it much earlier instead of all those tiles in the start menu. So kudos to the creators of the news and interest app!

    Hi, RingTailCoon

    I honestly don't think, that people are difficult - just everybody has his own preferations. I am also very sceptic about this new feature - why should I need it if I already have Weather app and MS News? Anyway, the widget is fed from these two, doesn't it? Plus, it is cluttering the notification area.

    Instead of implementing News and Interests, would be better off something else to be improved or fixed. IMO.
