    So. The investigation was funny.

    I have tryed to switch to Imdisk and remove Primo Ramdisk. It still lead to BSOD.
    Then I've enabled ProcessHacker logging to file (AVE dmex). And opened log.
    I've found strange situation while it crashes somewhere between "Intel Rapid Storage" processes launches. It can't even log them because of instant BSOD.
    I've looked at iaStor drivers and services and found IAStorDataMgrSvc is set to Auto (Delayed). Tryed to launch it manually - instant BSOD. Interesting situation.
    So. IAStorDataMgrSvc leads to BSOD. The description says: "Provides storage event notification and manages communication between the storage driver and user space applications." I have latest (for Z97K) Intel RST 14.8.18.1066 driver.

    Sad situation but disabling service stops BSODs
    P.S. Thank you for thoughts. They were helpful :)
    P.P.S. Fixed by installing 14.8.16.1063 from Intel. Previous was from station-drivers.

    Hi folks

    Unlike the co edition where BSOD's galore - couldn't install language pack etc etc this one is working perfectly. Worked via WU - all went fine

    Would hope so since it's only weeks away from release.

    Hi there
    just upgraded a device from 20H2 version to this release -- It's an external USB device where I created my own "Windows to Go" initially for the 20H2 version using the wim.install file extracted from the 20H2 iso on UUPDUMP a while back, installed all my applications and then ran the update via WU (you need to "rejoin" windows insider though to get it via WU). So it's now at 21H1 level.

    All again working correctly. With a decent USB 3 / USB C device attached to an SSD this W2GO system performs very well and means I can have own versions and languages of Windows / Office etc when I'm working at clients sites or even remotely . It's not always possible on some clients sites to get Office apps in several languages for example.

    Cheers

    I had reason to restore from a Macrium image backup I had made earlier today, After restoration I lost the new news/weather taskbar thingie and also the Windows Settings account picture and etc. WTH? I swear Windows 10 is seriously devolving - it is going to blow.
    These A/B "features" are tickled at the MS server end for each user and build. The fact you restored kinda put you back in the pool of "does he or doesn't he". The server flipped a coin, and you got tails. No News and Weather.

    I don't think "News and Interests" equate to having "Cortana" enabled anymore. I have "Cortana" disabled and the feature showed on my Taskbar after installing the latest Build for dev branch of Insiders (21364.1)

    News and interests on the taskbar will begin rolling out to Windows 10 users today. We are taking a measured approach starting with the April 2021 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10, and broad availability will occur in phases. Devices running Windows 10, version 1909 (and later) who have installed the May 2021 Windows monthly update (or later) will be included in this phased rollout.

    Seems it would be more dependent on Edge, since it uses Feeds. From the tut to turn it off and on.

    Customization - How to Add or Remove News and Interests icon on Taskbar in Windows 10 | Windows Questions

    The downloadable .bat files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds

    ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode DWORD

    0 = Show icon and text (default)
    1 = Show icon only
    2 = Turn off

    To tell you the truth, this new feature doesn't bother me that much. I remember in a previous post somewhere in TF, it was said that "News and Interests" = "Cortana". The good news, there are lots of way to deal with it right on the taskbar itself.

    On the flip side, your insight is always welcome and helpful.

    Not sure about that, could be. Something "spooky" for sure. I did uup dump to iso and a rescue install and that didn't work. I finally restored from a backup from 4/11 and applied updates since then and got it all back.

    Anybody know any Windows-foo to shake that stuff into action? I tried an extra reboot based on recent Dev Channel experience, but it doesn't seem to help. Sigh.
    Force it! Inversely <<0>> kills it. Double click the News area after loads the feed.

    Is feed available: Yes
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds" /v "IsFeedsAvailable"  /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    Is feed enabled: Yes
    Code:
    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds\FeedRepositoryState" /v "FeedEnabled"  /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
    See rest of parameters there:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Feeds\FeedRepositoryState

    Edit: Logout if not working. If still not working, see respective values in regedit:

    First digit is OFF condition:

    Code:
    ShellFeedsTaskbarViewMode = 2 > real stuff = 0 or 1
    ShellFeedsTaskbarContentUpdateMode = 1 > real stuff = 0
    ShellFeedsTaskbarOpenOnHover = 1 > real stuff = 0
