    Hello everyone,
After upgrading to this build my start menu, search app, and Cortana no longer open. I ran the Start menu troubleshooter but it just shows me this:

Not sure if you are imaging machine but I would start. Macrium is a tool many use but there are lots.

Can you get into setting with the keys "Windows + I", then Update and security, Recovery, fall back.
I did try to start imaging but macruim gives me errors with something related to the VSS or something similar when I attempt to back up. I cant see what the error code is right now since I can't access macirum. I will try to fall back to the last build if all else fails.

Great. Then post a thread on Macrium. Best of luck.

I'm not sure if your being sarcastic or not but I wouldn't call the situation I'm in "great" Would macrium even help someone running a computer on the WIP?

Can you go to the executable (.exe) of the StartMenuExperienceHost in system32 and launch it, if it doesn't show in Task Manager under "Processes" tab:

If you experience start menu issues, such as the menu is frozen and doesn’t open up. A quick fix to this is simply to terminate the StartMenuExperienceHost.exe process. Start it again by running it from the C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy folder. It creates a new fresh process that hopefully makes it work better.Process StartMenuExperienceHost.exe runs under the logged-in user’s profile; as a result, no administrative privileges are needed to restart this process.

What is StartMenuExperienceHost.exe and Why is it Running?

If still no joy, I would go for a repair install if at all possible. The MR's error about VSS is probably directly related to the fact that Start Menu cannot even start.

I'll just roll back to the last build and try to upgrade again.

You can always try. It would be great if you can keep us posted.

    ----updated----

Something else I wanted to add is:

Macrium Reflect cannot cause VSS to fail. Any failure is caused by other software or system configuration problems and will affect every program that uses VSS. Failures must be located and fixed for disk images and file backups to complete successfully.

It was just to backup what I said in my previous post.

Quick Question: If I roll back is it like a system restore? Would I lose recently installed apps or personal files? Would settings get changed back to what it was before the upgrade?

The answer is "No" you won't loose your installed apps and data files. Same thing goes for a Repair Install (In-place upgrade).
