The Britec09 chap created a video about subject KB causing problems and how to recover.

@kado897, @Bree, or anyone else on the other side of the pond who understand UK speak,

This chap often starts his videos what sounds like "what you guys" - am I hearing correctly and what exactly does that mean?

    Thanks

    He's saying 'Wotcher guys'....

What's the meaning of the word 'Wotcher'?
    A colloquial greeting.

...a contraction of the earlier greeting phrase 'what cheer?'. In that form, it became part of the everyday English language in the early Middle Ages.
The phrase 'Wotcher' - the meaning and origin of this word

Thanks for solving that mystery . I've never heard anyone say it before him that I can recall.

TBH I hardly ever hear it either, no outside the east end of London, anyway

Welcome to TF, I have two suggestions for you:
1- If you want to keep KB5001330 installed, you can run the different DISM command-lines and see if you still have the same issues after that. If so, go for a repair install aka In-place upgrade. Here are the commands:

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /checkhealth
    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /scanhealth
    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
    sfc /scannow

Worth noting that with the Repair install, you won't loose your data files, neither your installed Apps.
Also, make sure the Microsoft Management console is well located in System32 by launching Task Manager > Details tab > look for mmc.exe and right-click on it to left-click File location. If it is not in System32 folder, it could be a virus (just a side note).

2-You can live without KB5001330 until Patch Tuesday on May 12, 2021 and see if you are back to normal after applying it.

BTW, It is very convenient to have a system image backup before doing anything major to your machine just in case something goes awry. Another thing, your System Spec in your profile is basically empty. A little bit of more info is needed.

    Really hope that helps.

    Cheers!

yes i think you are right i will uninstall the update and wait for the patch

Good choice. I would have probably done the same to avoid the hassle of finding out the root cause of the issue. Sometimes, it can be very difficult to deal with that which doesn't have a clear explanation. Besides, PT is not too far away and MS also has a new feature called KIR which apparently can work in the background without the user even noticing a thing.

It's actually "whatcha guys". Slang for "hello guys", don't ask me it's derivation though.

Good sire, I'm afraid that's incorrect in this context.

Black and white proof I just found
