DJG misread the Winver screenshot - the question should have been 'how did you get .962?'

And the answer is that .962 is in Insider Preview at the moment, and may possibly appear as an optional Preview CU for RTM builds later on in the month.
We should stick to discussing released version in this thread to avoid confusion.

Doggone it, I just have to agree with this. It's quite misleading to mention a product release without including whether it's a Beta or Test version or an RTM/Release to Market/Manufacture version, can get newer or less-experienced users into trouble with their computer.

Sorry guys, forgot this was a preview release.

I have an Nvidia system, so I will try reinstalling the driver (I have the latest version).
If that doesn't work, I wonder if uninstalling the preview will then allow me to then see KB5001330 and then block it?

For non-insiders like me, you could always get its .cab file from UUPDump if you want to play with it (preferably in a VM).

    Attachment 328693
That is why I couldn't get .962 since I am not part of the Insider Program.

    > MS is kinda legerdemain. Last time they did that, it got me really confused. I am thinking of creating another VM for those types of builds, but still wondering: Is it really worth it?

I was going to start a new thread, but googling Build 19041.928 takes me straight here so it seems like a good megathread to ask about this: Limiting my maximum processor power state no longer seems to work. Until recently setting it to 99% kept CPU usage down, and the temperature sane so that the system doesn't shut down when it's under a heavy load. Now, setting a maximum percentage of anything under 100% does absolutely nothing, CPU temp will rise to mid-80s Celsius and boom, computer's off. See the attached screenshots.

Of course if I were really l33t I'd solve the problem on the hardware side by improving my cooling, but it's frustrating as heck that this software workaround no longer works. Is this a known issue, or am I doing something else wrong here?

Speedfan hasn't been updated in ages. Did you try AMD OverDrive ? AMD Overdrive Utility 4.3.1.0698 Download | TechSpot

I'll definitely give that a try. Speedfan doesn't do anything as far as controlling CPU activity, though (unless it does?); does AMD OverDrive do that? I guess I'll find out shortly... :)
