As an MVP I'll get it though MSDN so it will have to suck pretty bad for me not to use it on at least one PC. I'm not anticipating that scenario so I'll likely run it on all my PC's except maybe my wife's laptop. It all depends on how different it is from 8.1 as to whether I upgrade her laptop. She isn't even up to Joe average skill levels and she knows it. She wouldn't be offended by that comment either. About all she does is Facebook and the occasional Google search. I love her anyway.

I'll install it on one of my notebooks that hasn't allot of use.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that it won't be a good gaming OS I mean,
you can't beat either XP or 7 for gaming. Most grade A games still recommend
Windows 7.

We'll just have to wait and see.
Very much anticipating it's demo in September.

I'm curious to see some research on that statement "7 is better than 8" for gaming. I used to play a few games on 7 that I still play on 8.1 now and I see no decrease in performance. Actually, sometimes it's the other way around because 8 feels lighter on resources (no Aero).

However I am curious to see if MS is working on something new for the PC gaming community in 9. Wouldn't it be amazing if we had the old Game Explorer back with enhanced features etc. ? If nothing else, that's a good start. Round up all the games (not on Steam and/or Origin) in one place, provide descriptions, update notifications etc...

That's one thing I don't have to bother with I don't need a gaming machine, I just don't have time to play games on here. I do occasionally play a couple of the Facebook games, Candy Crush and Bubble Witch Saga but only play one of those once a day.
If I run out of lives I just leave, there's no way I'll pay for anything extra for them.

I gamed on 7 and still game on 8.x. No noticeable difference on the same hardware for me. FSP's mostly like Wolfenstein and Medal of Honor.

I did notice 8 being just slightly better in some games. In 7, my FPS would drop dramatically because when the GPU hits a certain temperature, the clocking drops and so do the frames. And I can't do anything about it because of a locked BIOS.

But ever since 8.1 I've never experienced this, even when playing the same games. Sure, FPS still drops but not the actual clocking. That's the reason I stayed on 8 :)

I think there will be various elements that will rule the acceptance of W9

Price for one - for $40 like the early W8 I would get it regardless. But I can probably get it thru MSDN anyhow.
New function - if there is enough new and desirable function (and stuff the layman wants), then people may go for that.
User Interface - it must be easy and intuitive for XP and W7 users to deal with it. After all, the migration base would be XP or W7
Downward compatibility - old programs must run
Quality and stability - and that from day 1. If it gets out of the door with a stigma of poor quality, it will never recover (see Vista).
