    Could Windows 9 Finally Kill Windows 7?

    Windows 7 continues to be the world’s leading operating system on the desktop, and everyone expects it to be extremely difficult to kill, especially due to the growing market share that keeps it on the leading spot of all charts.


    And still, Windows 7’s market share increase has slowed down in the latest few months, and partially responsible for this change is the avalanche of Windows 9 rumors which have pointed to a quickly approaching launch of a brand new operating system developed by Microsoft.

    Windows will have to be Super Duper to have an impact on anything and even then. Change for the sake of changing and the cost may not be well received especially in the business community.

    I highly doubt it. The previous OS has to have big issues before Joe average with an OEM PC is going to even think of upgrading to a newer version. Windows 7 doesn't fit that bill so those that are already running it will likely keep running it until they have to replace that PC. For the rest of use, well that seems to be a never ending debate. Or should I say g8t versus h8t.

    Windows 7 still have a loooooooooooooooong life ahead. I know for a fact that if Windows 9 does not meet my expectations, I'll stay with, once again, Windows 7.

    "Joe average with an OEM PC" typically doesn't upgrade the OS EVER. Whatever OS the machine came with stays on it until the machine is replaced. Members of this forum maybe the type to upgrade the OS but the average user is not.

    I doubt there will be any compelling reason to upgrade to Win 9 from either Win 7 or Win 8.

    Well I consider myself "Joe average" but I'll get 9 if can get a good enough deal on it, otherwise I'll have to stay with what I have for now and wait till I can afford a new machine that comes with it, although I'd prefer a retail copy if possible.

    The fact that you read and post to these forums automatically excludes you from the "Joe average" camp.

    Exactly my point. Enthusiasts will likely be the only ones even thinking of upgrading the OS.
