If you guys who are having this problem will take my advice and install a driver (Microsoft or RealTek) manually through the Device Manager--instead of using an exe install or relying on the Troubleshooter, you'll find that your 2.5GB NIC no longer loses connection or loses the Gateway. I had both problems--this solved them, permanently. Takes all of five seconds to do it...

The driver versions don't seem to matter--I installed a Microsoft driver from 2015 manually--and it is rock-stable--when manually installed through the DM. It's the method of installation that matters, I've found. Apparently, something is broken in the automatic install function in Windows in certain hardware configurations for the RealTek NIC drivers.
    Hi, Walt.

Luckily, I don't seem to have the problems you've described; however, I'm not sure which NIC I'm using, since I'm sorely lacking in knowledge of networking.

How do I figure out which I have?

I run dual monitors and haven't had a whole lot of problems, although some have reared their ugly heads on occasion.

After a clean install of Build 21327, installing all (a few gazillion) updates, lo and behold, I didn't have to go in and manually set up my dual monitors! They were automatically set up! I have a minor problem, but that's for another thread in another forum. It has nothing to do with updating Windows 10 per se.

I'm in the wrong partition. Guess I'd best head over there . . .
