I'm running Build 10525 in my Insider HDD. It's quite stable and I liked the new coloring settings. I hope we start to get official updates for 10240 soon.

    Thanks Kari

That did the trick -- it did some critical updates again and then started the download. It's only a test machine so nothing lost.

    Cheers

Good to know it worked. A lot of users do not like System Restore, saying that it does not work as expected. For me it has always worked, I have never had a failed System Restore attempt.

Never understood people turning restore off either. It is so good at getting you back to a good state for those 'what the hell happened there' episodes.

Of course these are TEST builds - so when I see people complaining "Not enough features to merit upgrade" my impression is that these people shouldn't be using insider builds --that's the WHOLE POINT of insider builds --maybe Ms just wants to test A SINGLE FEATURE -- maybe more -- why not. Again that's the WHOLE POINT of testing. Do it in bits before rolling out a complete update.jimbo
Totally agree. I'm in the Insider Program to test whatever MS wants to add or improve. I still have the RTM version for my main use and the TP version to play with. I enjoy being a Insider and plan on staying in for as long as I can. :)

I'm not quite convinced with what you have to do with the image backup when experiments are involved, but no offense! it just an another way. A Dual Booting of another disk or even VM requires something no more than 150gb space (100gb should be plenty enough) with almost cost you nothing. Why not try it? It's simple and easy. When you find everything satisfied, go get it final at last!
Following any clean install of Windows and once all of the usual programs are on it's good practice at seeing a full system image type backup made when you have the extra drive available. Since not everyone will have that extra drive space while even the 64bit 10 Pro VM is only about 40gb not 100gb or 150gb for VM Player when talking a working installation of 10 to try out a test build especially on a one drive system you would create an image on removable media in case the upgrade from RTM to Test build goes belly up.

Here however I have another advantage of having a second system to run anything at all on that. Then you add the fact I already made images for both OSs on both machines already. A good 60gb or so VM can still be run on either 10 or 7 on either machine while the main case has a bit more room with the larger drives. :)

Maybe they should just fix bugs instead of putting new "features" into it!? Windows 10 is unusable on (Atom) tablets right now (from the beginning of the insider program) because of the throttling bug.
Windows 10 RTM is running OK on my tablet. The only thing I had a problem with was the auto-upgrade. It said my graphic card wasn't compatible and wouldn't install. I went to the MS site and did a online upgrade.

You know that this is so damn ironic, right? A new build for one toggle option for coloring the start menu which takes like 5 minutes to program? yes I know about the ram compression bla blub, which isnt something insideres are testing (can test) anyway. This goes on and on on the insider program always with those nonsense posts like "big news everyone! we got tons of feedback and are so happy to bring this new feature to you, because we got millions of requests for this incredible feature which took us months to implement. now you can change the desktop background by right clicking on the desktop in two clicks! enjoy! g" updated color options!!! more hats!! It was like this over the past year... if you look into the feedback app there are tons of incredible good ideas, take a bet, will they get implemented? no. take just a damn simple request like giving tablet users swipe keyboard like windows phone has... I guess it is even implemented already but just deactivated for pc/tablet users, because it is the same keyboard app on windows 10 phone.
How do you know it's a new build just for one option? You still didn't answer my question? What exactly do you think Insider builds are for? If you want a more stable version, with less bugs, why not switch back to the Consumer release?

I do , too! One of the first things I noticed. Took the bland, white, drab out of the title bar, et al.
