But you did set your machine up on the Release Preview ring did you not?

But there's loads of perfectly legitimate reasons why someone might manually check for updates, it's not just idle curiosity!
In my case on one machine it was to search for drivers for some new hardware I'd just installed.
I got the drivers, but the .NET preview update as well!

That's not right, previews should never be downloaded and installed unless they are specifically asked for by the user.
As we've seen recently, they can cause no end of future problems.

Strangely, looking back at my Windows Update install history, with the .NET updates there seems to be quite a few instances where a preview update was installed, but was then never subsequently replaced by a "proper" version.

That could well be because the preview actually ended up actually being the final version, but the principle still holds as far as I'm concerned.
Yes, David, I'm with you on the principle of their sneaky methods. It's just more ludicrous M$ BS.
They must be severely desperate for users to be unsuspecting test guinea pigs because they fired/severely downsized their test department.

This would be like me going to a store to window shop and being told - "you looked at this item, so you just bought it".

    Not knowingly, no.
How would I do that? (Not that I want to, just curious!)
Anyway, if I was setup on that, I would be getting the general Windows CU previews automatically downloaded and installed as well wouldn't I, and I'm not?

Are you not registered as a Windows Insider? Go to settings -> update and security and check what it says.

For reference, I've not registered for preview releases with M$, and I'm experiencing the same crap you are, so probably you're not registered for preview either - as we'd hopefully know we opted in for that.

The "Windows Insider Programme" section just has a "Get Started" button, so I guess not!

    hello friends,

    Scenary: MSWindows 10 Enterprise 20H2 build 19042.746

I see that the referred CU (by CAB file) was installed without errors, however, in a much longer time than any others I have already installed ... almost 1 hour!

OK, time will not argue .. an i7 4770K with 16GB, SSD 120GB (55GB empty),

I think it's ok for me, so far. Now, I will talk about the strange behavior after installing this CU ...

All, I said all, non-Microsoft applications, are closed (killed from the task list) in about 5 seconds after being loaded !!!That's right, after this CU any application that I load is closed in 5 seconds after its load !!!

    Well, someone could say: it's a virus, that's it, that's it ...

No, it's not! The cause is actually the installation of this CU!

My antivirus is Kaspersky IS 2021 that I've been using for 3 years!

Now, taking the nine test!I uninstalled this CU and everything went back to what it was before ... no more, no less!any ideas or someone with the same "defect"?

This has been isolated to GPU Tweak when osd is turned on.

    Hi @Diceman
have you this problem with "GPU Tweak"?

Really, I had it installed, because I use "Asus GTX nVidia 1650 Super 4GB" and the "GPU Tweak" is used to "O.C." -- but, I really, dont like O.C. my system (CPU, GPU, RAM etc...) my preference is "stock".

Now, Im using "MSWindows 10 Enterprise build '(2004) 19041.804" and I dont have installed "GPU Tweak" and (I dont know) but for while, it's ok with MSWindows and Kasperkey IS v2021.
