I don't remember where I read that it was supposed to only be in the enablement of 19043... maybe ghacks?

It's being moved into the Settings App sometime soon, in a cut down form. This is from my Dev Channel VM.
    Yeah, that must be it.

I've heard MS is eventually moving to either cloud OS, or subscription OS.
These changes they've been making don't seem to definitively point in either direction...yet.

But I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that there is SOME method to their madness.

Both of those would require super-duper-extraordinary-fantastic internet speed all over the world (Moon and Mars) to implement. Maybe as options for lucky ones.

I think they could employ a yearly charge, fairly easily.
    Think... Office 365, for example.

    Hi folks
This hardy perennial crops up time and again.

There's no way in 10 zillion years that Windows for HOME users will either become cloud based ( or as @CountMike says) - current Internet speeds aren't up to it across large swathes of the planet and aren't likely to be for years - or subscription based if ever.

If Ms did decide to go subscription then there's always LINUX where you could run VM's of the last non subscription versions of Windows - for as long as you wished.

The Azure cloud service makes a lot of sense for corporates as usually users have non complex hardware, no gaming type developement requiring all sorts of new hardware - often bleeding edge - but if you had that type of service at a cheap price for individuals just think of the horrendous cost of providing any sort of "Customer service" -- just go into any computer retail store (I don't any more --Amazon for me works !!!!!) and listen to the usually totally stupid questions being asked by customers and the even sillier (often incorrect) answers being given by the "Customer service technicians".

Totally a wacky concept - and while predicting the future is always risky (if it weren't I'd have zillions in profit on Stock market trades) these ideas are never going to happen.

    Cheers

Well, running the 19043 update was rather uneventful, until I rebooted and Kaspersky complained it was having some limitations due to two possible situations:

    https://support.kaspersky.com/us/155...=KIS_21.1#oobe

I couldn't find Device Guard running so figured it must be the OOBE, which sort of made sense. So I rebooted again and Kaspersky is now happy again, all back to normal.

Ran the fsutil DISM set and everything was successful. But my DISM version is still back at 746 unlike the image which is at 782. Is this the current state?

    I thought 19042 was 20H2 and 19043 was 21H1.

    What am I missing.
