I've done a bunch of Googling that caused me to try a couple things like hitting all the function keys, uninstall the touchpad & reboot.

Anyone else have this problem & solve it?

    (Acer Spin SP513-52N)

    TIA.

P.S. I'm a newbie to this forum so if I have broken protocol I apologize in advance.
I eventually solved the problem by following the advice at Why is my laptop mouse touchpad not working?.

One of the suggestions was to reset the battery (by powering down & re-setting the battery by putting a pin in the battery hole on the bottom of my laptop. Had nothing to lose, and tried. Astonished that the touchpad / cursor was back working upon re-boot.

TucDream hello and welcome to tenforums ,
Glad to hear that you resolved the issue and thank you for sharing the fix.

I didn't see anything about battery in the link you shared. Was that part from a different source?

    Sorry Steve ... my bad.

I had a few windows open with potential answers, and I liked the Computer Hope dialog I quoted. However the "battery reset" hint came from the Acer community at Touchpad not working nor appearing in BIOS (Spin 5 (sp513-52N) — Acer Community

I installed KB4598242 (OS Build 19042.746) on the 12th Jan as soon as it was released. All was dandy, but ran DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and sfc /scannow and chkdsk c:/f merely because I’ve read on here that other members do this.

All has been well until this morning when I got a Blue Screen with this message.

: ( Your computer ran into a problem and needs to restart. We’re just collecting some error info, and then we’ll restart for you….. % count to 100, and it restarted.

It’s now back working fine, but I am very disappointed with Windows 10 in general as I never used to get these sorts of issues with Windows 7 – or indeed need to resort to using a site like this one.

    DISM Error Code 50

I always run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth every month after Microsoft Updates. This time I am getting the following error message
PowerShell 7.1.1Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation.https://aka.ms/powershellType 'help' to get help.

    PS C:\Users\Dawg> DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management toolVersion: 10.0.19041.746
    Error: 50

To service this Windows image requires the latest version of the DISM. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=293395 to find the latest version of DISM,and http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=293394 to learn how to install the latest version of DISM from the ADK on your computer. The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.logPS C:\Users\Dawg>
I went to the 2 websites listed above and downloaded the latest ADK even though Microsoft is not releasing a new DISM for Windows 10, build 19042.746 (20H2),
No one else seems to be having any issues running DISM and I have never had issues in the past.
Any suggestions to resolve this issue?
    Thank you,

Good practice prior to running DISM "cleanup" commands of any kind after an update is to first run SFC /scannow to make sure all the components are happy. It is likely after an update SFC will fix one or more, and they may be DISM related. Give it a try.

I can never successfully run the sfc /scannow command on my machine except in safe mode for some reason.
    DISM commands work fine.
I have never been able to work out why this is...

    sfc normal mode...

Sorry I did not give more details but I had already run SFC even though Windows reported that there were no issues or errors and I did not have to run it...

So, I am the only one unable to run DISM after this update...?

I always wanted to be special and/or unique... LOL!
