UPDATE 1/12: Windows 10 Insider Preview Beta and RP Channel Build 19042.746 (20H2)

Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing 20H2 Build 19042.685 (KB4592438) to the Beta and Release Preview Channels for those Insiders who are on 20H2 (Windows 10 October 2020 Update).

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

    • We fixed a security vulnerability by preventing applications that run as a SYSTEM account from printing to “FILE:” ports. To address this issue in the future, make sure your applications or services run as a specific user or service account.
    • Security updates to Microsoft Edge Legacy, the Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Media, Windows Fundamentals, and Windows Virtualization.

For more information about the resolved security vulnerabilities, please refer to the new Security Update Guide website.

Announcing a new way to deploy Servicing Stack Updates via WSUS

In the past, organizations using WSUS have been able to validate the upcoming Windows 10 Feature Updates using the Windows Insider Pre-release category. Today, they can also test out new technology that we are releasing to make the deployment of cumulative and security updates (LCUs) and servicing stack updates (SSUs) easier by enabling admins to deploy them together via a single package and have the client orchestrate their installations. For all the details on this, see this blog post from Aria Carley. This builds off the progress to simplify on premises deployments of servicing stack updates she talked about back in September.

    Thanks,
    BLB

In Settings go to Update & Security. Near the bottom (left side) click on Windows Insider program

You'll first have to turn on diagnostic data, and then you can join

that's because the KB4562830 Enablement Package recently got a new revision:

Probably the easiest way is to install a build from UUPDUMP - then after installing and ist boot click on the Windows Insiders program in the settings. The reason I recommend the UUPDUMP method is that these (if you choose the correct build) are already marked by Ms as "Insider builds".

    Cheers
