Because I couldn't myself & I've never seen anyone who has.

I had to revert to 630, luckily I keep about 3 months of Macrium images, so it took about 10 minutes to
restore to 630. then upgrade .

All seems fine with .685 up from .662.

Hope you guys and gals that have/had the "stuck .661" issue have got it fixed or have a plan to do so. I do not think it will fix itself in any upcoming Patch Tuesdays or the like.

Six machines all updated smoothly by Windows Update (2 x86, 4 x64). None of them ever had the ill-fated .661 update installed, they were all updated from either 19042.630 or 19042.662 (installed by Windows Update).

    This gives me relief.

Of all the posts on here about errors and how to get back to 630 or 661 and you are the first to mention you had an image of 630. Brave people installing Preview updates without having an image to go back. I no longer do Previews and no problem going to 685 from 630.

I also took that route to an image from 12th November.

I posed a question in the earlier thread regarding how the less skilled people were going to get this 661 problem fixed.

I have my answer now- they're not, at least by MS sorting it for them.

This isn't an Insider problem after all.
