You may want to do a disk cleanup before you back up. I got a 4GB residue after this update.

All good here, went from .662 to .685 through Windows Update.

.661 always failed using DISM install, used a backup image to get back to .630, .662 updated using DISM.KB4592438 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.685 and v20H2 19042.685-screenshot-2020-12-08-200621.jpg

    Still not working here.
KB4592438 has installed fine on my main desktop, but failed on my netbook, again with error 0x8007003, exactly the same as the preview version did.
    Windows Update now says -

"Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007003)"

    Anyone any ideas?

Two friends running 20H2, as I am, reporting an issue. I can verify. CU successfully installs. SFC normal, DISM showing component store corruption. DISM commands fix that.

Reliability History shows nothing adverse on main page, but under "View All Problem Reports" ...

Following path to Crashpad_log, the report file is empty.

Third friend just emailed -- same exact issue since getting a new computer two months ago, born with 2004. He states Edge Update runs perfectly fine manually when checking the browser's "about" page, but fails to run automatically behind-the-scenes and throws these errors every time it tries automatically. Apparently, this issue's been out there prior to this CU but it seems to have brought it out for me and at least two others. I'll continue to investigate.

How do you remove the Rewards icon from the settings page? I have followed some guides online but the icon is still there.

I keep on seeing people having a hard time with this update. If I am on 2004 .630 build, will I have any problems? And why do you think you guys that are having trouble, having trouble?

So I repair installed via Media Creation Tool on this laptop, didn't take too long, and ended on 19042.685 Quicker, in my opinion, than using the UUP dump route that I did last week on the other laptop.

The problem is with the 661 build. You can't update from that. 630 or 662 are fine for updating.

Any reason why you think that anyone can't update from that?

    I'm on .630 and I can't update. Error 0x8007000d
Can't do in-place repair install either as it doesn't allow me to keep my files. How screwed am I?
