    Unfortunately in this case all that does is show a message that the update failed.
    Did you click on "View details" after clicking on the red "X".

    It's 19042. 661 that's the issue for me. Did a repair install on another laptop to 662 and that's ok.
    Well it was said many times in this forum that if one was on .661, he/she had to go back to .630 and then upgrade to .662. It has worked for many members this way. At any rate, you are OK now.

    I'm on 20H2 Build 19042.661 and this update failed for me.

    The download was quick and it quickly went to Installed 100 %. Then it changed that to Installing 23% for a little while, and Installed 100%. Then this:

    Attachment 309729

    I'll try Retry but I expect it will fail again.

    Yup - it did. Looks like I'll be stuck on 661 for at least another month,
    Or more if you do nothing to correct the 661 install.

    Downloading and applying to all production PCs. So far, so good. Fast download, less than 2 minutes to restart notification. Quick post-reboot handling, too. Hope all machines go this smoothly.

    How do you do a repair install?

    I'm also on 661 and got "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f081f)"

    KB4586853 on Nov 12, was the update to bring you to .661 and KB4586781 on Nov 7 to .630. If you have a system image backup before Nov 12, 2020 (full, differential or incremental) you can use it to go back to .630 or you can use the enablement package in the following link below using the .CAB file to have a try at going to .662 from previous build. Contrary to others not able to go from .661 to .662, it has worked for me.

    Successfully installed KB4592438 via Windows Update on two machines.
    From 20H2 b19042.630 -> 20H2 b19042.685
    Took about 15 mins each machine.
    Older MBR disk system found / fixed corruption after the update when I ran sfc /scannow
    Newer GPT disk system reported no errors/corruption after the update when I ran sfc /scannow

    Both systems stable - will see how it goes.
