Not as simple saying you can't update from 661. Two of my three updated from 661.

Doing a repair install on no. three!

Can't do in-place repair install either as it doesn't allow me to keep my files. How screwed am I?
This really makes me feel better. I was being sarcastic with the first sentence.

I downloaded the Media Creation toolwindows

    10.0-kb4586853-x64_9c181d397b4b5d320af7e6f385ebc4bba693a95c.msu

and ran the Setup.exe - it restored my system to 20H2 Build 19042.631. The I ran WU and it installed KB4592438 which ran to 100% for 2 (or maybe it was 3) times before it put up the Pending restart message. So I rebooted and the system came back with 20H2 Build 19042.685.

So I guess I am out of the woods now. Annoying for sure - but I reckon it's the end results that counts.

And yes, all my software etc. does seem to be OK.

Odd as it repaired to 20H2 19042.685 here and needed to install the .Net update again.

I'm on 20H2 19042.630 here, and the update doesn't work, so it's not just failing on later versions.

There is something strange, I had this all installed, put my PC to sleep, then did something came back and woke it up and checked WU and it started to redo the entire thing, this time It did not restart.. Nothing failed the first time..

Yes, mine did the .Net update too - I didn't mention that becuase on of the fixes I tried before doing the ISO reload was to deleted the 2 .Net features and re-install them. But the reinstall failed to work (of course) so I had no option other than the ISO rebuild.

Maybe the .Net reinstall is baked in to the KB4592438 update??

I'm on 20H2 Build 19042.661 and this update failed for me.

The download was quick and it quickly went to Installed 100 %. Then it changed that to Installing 23% for a little while, and Installed 100%. Then this:

    Attachment 309729

I'll try Retry but I expect it will fail again.

Yup - it did. Looks like I'll be stuck on 661 for at least another month,

Make sure you are at 19042.661. Do an in-place update (it will revert you back to 19042.5xx or 19042.630 and then update to 19042.685
