    Hello Bree,

KB4586853 was originally released to Insiders in the Beta and RP channels, then later released to the public.

Insider: Windows 10 Insider Preview Beta and RP Channel Build 19042.662 (20H2)

    Public: KB4586853 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.662 and v20H2 19042.662
What's confusing me is the now non-existent separate thread for 19041.661 that is still referred to by links in posts and still appears in a search.

Still having no luck here with my netbook, although a friend's laptop took the update with no problem, as did my desktop.
I tried with the offline update installer file, which didn't work either, also failing on the restart..
Clutching at straws, I then tried in Safe Mode, which of course wouldn't work at all, not surprisingly!
I then tried a clean boot, and after manually starting the WU service, the update file ran, but then said "The update is not applicable to your computer"! WTF?!
I'm on 20H2 build 19042.630, not on any later preview builds.

661/662 was originally a leaked build on 11/12 that was officially updated to 662 on 11/30.

We are now at 685 in this thread.

In that case you can browse through this thread to see how others installed this KB from 661/662.

    I can't even install it from 630, and 662 wouldn't install either!
    Never been anywhere near 661.

I have a huge number of processes (I lost count after 60) that run as System user & this update says that some might not run if I update. I don't know how to, or if I should, change from system user to my username. Will this update prevent many of my apps from working?

    I'm afraid to update.
