KB4589212 Intel Microcode Updates Windows 10 v2004 and v20H2 - March 9 Win Update
-
Multiple CPU IDs in the table with different n
microcode revisions IIRC. The name helps distinguish rows with duplicate CPU IDs. 306D4 for example appears in multiple rows.
Microsoft's chart is actually wrong (and you are one of the people in this thread that stated it also).
In your 306D4 example, Microsoft's chart with i7-5650U will only tell you that you have 0x2D microcode revision as the latest revision.
But in Intel's chart in Nov 2019, Intel already provided a newer 0x2E microcode revision for i7-5650U.

I can't find the newest Intel's chart, but according to Microsoft's chart, Intel has a newer microcode revision 0x2F.
You just have to go by CPU ID and microcode revision number (which definitely has some sort of alpha-numerical order).

I just joined to say thanks for the link @Warre1. The description for the KB had me expecting microcode 0xB4 on my i7-8700K, so I was very confused when I booted with microcode 0xDE 🤔

Installed v2 and my PC didn't blow up or change microcode versions
-
Easy and clean install with no problems.

Note the table is out of date. The table states the microcode revision is 0xAE for my Whiskey Lake Intel® Core™ Processor i5-8265U but the linked Microsoft document states 0xDE which I already have after a recent HP BIOS update. I suggest people refer to Microsoft's table and not the one in this post.

Table in first post now updated.

Chrome gave me a false-positive on the update (lol, a virus, Chrome??) , but I installed it nonetheless. Installed fine and dandy!

Microcode installed.
At the moment everything is going well.
Before installation: Running microcode revision: 0x2D (loaded by Microsoft Windows 10 Home)
After installation: Running microcode revision: 0x2F (loaded by Microsoft Windows 10 Home)
Thanks to Dimitri Delopoulos for his script: CPU-info [Version 2.5] © 2020
From 'Update history' in 'Quality updates' of 'Settings' by clicking on the item 'Update for Windows KB4589212' in note 2 it reads:
'As of February 25, 2020, the update for these select (CPU) products is available through Windows Update.'
Always first in TenForums!
Thanks, Brink.
