    Now why did I export the registry Key as it existed before? You may be aware that a bug had been noticed in 20H2. In Bree's words "There is a bug in 20H2 that, if you try to do an in-place repair upgrade on a 20H2 machine with the 20H2 install media, will not allow you to keep user files and installed apps."     I am yet to modify the registry but had exported the registry key and kept it so that if need be I can restore that original key. In response to Ztruker's query I have posted the before and after the CUmulative update status of that particular key.

    May be Ztruker will come out with his theory on it     .

    Before CU:
    "EditionBuildNumber"=dword:00004ag2 is 19042
    "EditionBuildQfe"=dword:0000o262 is 610
    20H2 build 19042 release 610

    After CU:
    "EditionBuildNumber"=dword:00004ag2 is 19042
    "EditionBuildQfe"=dword:0000o276 is 630
    20H2 build 19042 release 630

    After running Batch file:
    "EditionBuildNumber"=dword:00004a61 is 19041
    "EditionBuildQfe"=dword:000001fc is 508
    2004 build 19041 release 508

    I wish someone would try a Repair Install using UUP Downloader of 20H2 19042.630 just going far enough to see if you get the page where you are given a choice to Keep Personal Files and Apps. If you get that far the problem has been fixed. If the choices are not offered and the only choice is a Clean Install then the problem is not fixed.

    In either case,you can bail out making no changes to your system.

    I can't do the test because I used the DISM and CAB file update process after zapping the registry. Need a clean system that used Windows Update to apply update.

    I haven't done my Laptop yet. It is being offered the CU

    I downloaded and extracted the UUDUMP file mentioned above.
    After running it, it does NOT offer the choice of keeping files.
    Only the nothing choice can be selected:///

    I was testing out to see if any fix had been put in to allow an in place upgrade in the UUDUMP version as requested by Ztruker.

    19042.630 can't use for Inplace Repair.

    First with the 19042.661 again

    Installing this right now to test. I did the reg mod in this discussion but it did not work.
    I will post results of this test later.
    I made a full backup with Macrium this morning so no worries.��
