Guys, please if you can, please share how long did these 3 updates took for you to install from zero to finish (after restart and "getting windows ready" step).

It took like 2 hours for me and it was pissing me off because i couldn't do anything on a 6 year old 2TB HDD SATA 3.

I remember the 2004 update took like 3 hours. This one from today was also really big.

Please if you can please share, how long did it take for you and if it was on HDD or SSD.
I didn't see your question until after the preview was installed.
On my old desktop with HDD it took something less than 2 hours
On my new desktop (this one) it failed as did the last two versions.

The new one is fast with SSD and bells and whistles! I even paid MS for a Pro upgrade. Would expect better service than this for all that money!

For the time being I have hidden the update.

You have to unzip it, then copy the update there and run the script

I think I done it wrongly without the kb4579311 update file.
    Will try again tomorrow.

Found a down side from this new CU update. It seems to have disabled my old Microsoft word 2000 version. It runs and you can type a little, but after about 2-3 minutes, it HANGS. Task manager states its not responding, it is burning cpu cycles but no disk cycles. After some period of time windows states its not responding and asked to cancel or continue. I may have start using the "Open office Writer" from now on and just uninstall old Microsoft word.

I use LibreOffice, have you tried that. Not the most compatible with Office, but I use it for personal use.

The Open Office Writer has no problem with even really old .doc files. All the formatting is correct and I can't find any issues with it since I wasn't it except for testing. It will become my goto word processor near term.

The latest versions of LibeOffice Writer have good compatibility with the .docx format these days.
