Is this the norm or exception for this PC when updating? Something seems to be wrong. Tried the usual chkdsk, sfc, dism routine?
I did the sfc scan after the NetFramework and Adobe update went through. No problems downloading those two but sfc did find corruption after those updates and successfully repaired them. I then rebooted at 1:44 a.m. as shown in my screenshots and did the sfc scan again with no integrity violations found, so I checked Windows Update because I knew there was one more update that wasn't originally showing up and there it was for over twelve hours sitting there probably downloading at a trickle because of server demand.

It is sometimes the norm for this or any PC in the house as they have HughesNet by Satellite as ISP connections. So basically, one thick patch of clouds could interrupt download speeds. I've witnessed satellite blackout periods for days here in the mountains just from fog and smog.

I was just trying to show the guys/gals that got cable connections and worried about slow download times that they really have nothing to complain about.

So you guys/gals that are worried about a 30 minute download or more and not using satellite, I wouldn't sweat it so much. I would trade ISP providers with any of you in a heartbeat if I could. They just now recently started laying the lines for cable connections in my area. They are only 20 some years behind for us poor folks out in the sticks!

Guys, please if you can, please share how long did these 3 updates took for you to install from zero to finish (after restart and "getting windows ready" step).

It took like 2 hours for me and it was pissing me off because i couldn't do anything on a 6 year old 2TB HDD SATA 3.

I remember the 2004 update took like 3 hours. This one from today was also really big.

Please if you can please share, how long did it take for you and if it was on HDD or SSD.
FYI - I updated 2 machines so far, The little tablet which has an Intel Atom 1.44ghz took just under 2 hrs to complete all of the updates (Downloads to final reboot). My system 1 machine took (check my sys specs) 7 min to apply all of the fixes (including downloads), the restart took 3 min to the logon splash screen - total time 10mins.

    WOOT woot - 1k posts

I can't remember an update taking longer than 5 minutes (other than feature updates) on my signature computer with a Gen. 3 NVMe drive, this was no exception. SSDs (either SATA or NVMe) is an absolute must these days if you ask me. I have a laptop with a 5200rpm hard disk drive, I can test how long it takes, but it's going to take forever I'm sure.

Same here, tried lots of workarounds without luck. Glad to know a reset doesn't fix it before wasting more time...

I think those having issue installing KB4579311 should wait for 20H2 update and see if install fine rather than reformat and clean install.

You can try the script from Ben. This has helped many people.
