Kado i hope you won't get offended, but i'm guessing my 6 year old HDD should be faster than your 10 year old HDD.
Again, please don't get offended but i only made the comparison because your HDD is almost double mine's age meanwhile mine took double the amount of time yours did for the update to finish.
Again, not trying to be rude or anything but i just find this really weird.
I'm not offended at all. Your machine should probably be faster, it was a good machine in it's day but is on it's last legs now. WU is a funny beast that seems to drag it's feet on some machines. I've no idea why. it's even more erratic on upgrades, especially insider builds.

Just one more question out of curiosity.
While gaming my HDD ussually goes to like 57-58'C. Is that a normal temp while gaming ? I've heard that it can damage the HDD if the temp hovers at around 60'C.

I'm not a gamer and I only have lappys so I can't help there.

My machine is getting pretty long in the tooth. A core 2 duo. This update didn't take all that long. Maybe 25 minutes to download, and another 25 to install. My internet speed is ~9Mbs download. System drive is an SSD
Just did my Core 2 Duo / HDD only / 4 GB RAM. Took 30 minutes total for download/install/reboot/login of the 3 updates from yesterday.

Depends on the game, how it uses your disk and what the ambient temp inside your case is. If it's loading and reading world assets for example (open world games) while other components around it are producing heat (e.g graphics card), then yes this is normal temperatures.
