    Hi there

    So Xmas is early this year --I thought it had been cancelled -- relegated to the worlds first Y3K project (Year 3000 !!).

    Please though good citizens of the USA keep that horrendous Black Friday rubbish back over there where it belongs.

    People need these days to conserve their money while jobs are diminishing rapidly by the hour -- not just due to COVID but due to A.I, redundant city centre offices reducing need for small local businesses serving daily office workers now mainly working from home and all sorts of other factors.

    At least this year we can all do without TAT imported goods wrapped in loads of hideous plastic coming from such "Democratic countries" as China etc.

    I love technology - but at times we should all step back a bit and just pause unneccessary spending "just because it's cheaper on a few days".

    For Non Christians -- why take part in a Christian festival at all and for Christians where actually the chief person (J.C) was born into abject poverty - about as far away from the modern commercialized Xmas that it's possible to imagine --conspicuous consumption should be put on hold this year -- Amazon can afford the slight loss to its profits -- and I'm no socialist - I have a lot of time for Amazon --usually but not in this case.

    Keep your money and wait until eventually the COVID problem is solved as it will be in the end --then lets all have an almighty planet wide mega party lasting weeks or even months!!!

    Cheers

    I think your opinion on Black Friday is rather out of order, even though intended as a joke.

    Besides the best Black Friday deal I ever got was 4 Macrium Reflect Home licensaz at 50% from a British firm!

    As 4 licences only cost price of 2 anyway, that meant I got 4 licences for the price of 1!

    Hi there
    Not trying to "deprecate" things -- but my point was --be careful how you use your money currently if income is not guaranteed.

    Yes of course if you need the gear and you can get it at cheap prices --go for it.

    Trouble with the Internet - often things that can be posted because of regional / international differences can mean to people a lot different things as to what the original poster intended.

    So OK to all but do stay safe -- and I still think the idea of a huge global party is in order when the COVID thing is (as it will inevitably - no matter how long in the future) gets fixed.

    Cheers

    Jimbo is right, never spend beyond your means. That $1000 TV thats half price is still a $1000 dollars out of your pocket.

    @swarfega

    Thanks

    But please stay safe and when this is inevitably over as it will inevitably play out (Humans are remarkably resilient) enjoy our "Global celebration Party !!!" -- I must admit I was never a "Save the Planet" type of guy (worked years for SHELL -- not although the most "vile Oil Co in the Galaxy " - they are reasonable in environment these days) I do think we need to be a lot more circumspect on our environment, !!

    BTW you can't really get a more eco friendly country than Iceland -- "end of commercial".

    Again everybody please stay safe and save energy and money for our great grand "planet re-opening party" --> "ex-covid" global party when this thing is (as it will be) finally defeated.

    Let's have a bit less Doom and Gloom -- in spite of the fact in pretty well the entire planet the Politicians are more than ever removed from their local electorates.

    My experience is that in spite of stupid laws local people always look out for each other -- not sure about huge cities like London. L.A and New York where foreign property owners probably kill the idea of retaining "local villagy type of local neighbourhoods"

    Cheers

    Hi there

    @swarfega
    updated my post.

    Next time in Cambridge - if you are around how about some beers - I love the city of ELY also great place.

    We've just been placed into UK quarantine because a load of French Tourists partying in Reykjavik like the world was ending ( Schengen - from EU no passport checks required) caused a massive increase here in COVID -19

    But as soon as this is over travel again will be OK. Our "Track and Trace system" works normally but obviously there was a problem with the French Tourists -- now they have got the ID's of the tourists so it will be OK == Please UK even though you voted to leave EU -- that's for your voters done and dusted as democracy decides these issues but please continue to co-operate on international health issues .

    Cheers

    That sounds nice Jimbo. I don't drink myself but I'm always up for a trip out in normal times.
