The kb4571756 install failed, and rolled itself back.

I then noticed that there was an option to install and shut down, as well as the normal install and restart option. The install and shut down option worked (once I switched my laptop back on). I think I got to the install and shut down option by right-clicking on the Windows Update Status Taskbar Icon that appears when you have a pending update.

Just a PSA to advise this Update caused my Surface 3 ( original model 2016? ) to no longer be bootable last night , it was stuck at the black Surface Boot screen.

Thankfully ( as I don't know how to get into the Bios) it seems when it finds no bootable partition it starts looking to the USB port, even with secureboot on, so I was able to use a Macrium Reflect Free Boot USB Drv to "Fix Windows Boot Problem" and it booted up again just fine.

Strange happenings this morning. Is MS having a problem ? The reason I ask, is because KB4571756 and related KB's from Sept 8th just re-appeared on my Desktop system this morning. It downloaded them and then tried to install them AGAIN (Which it didn't), then it said "Thank you, your up to date" ???

PS: these were installed on Sept 9th on this system.

On a 2nd older system here , 508 had trouble restarting, but has eventually got there , but is running slow as molasses on a winter's morning....... and much to my surprise the 2nd User Profile is gone , no trace whatsoever , it used to stop at boot until one of them signed in with their pin , now there is only one User, which I suspect is the one the Update started under.

Had the same thing happen here, only a PC and not a Surface. Ended up doing a System Restore from the repair menu, and now it is booting normally again.

Odd thing is that WU shows this update as being successfully installed on the 9th, yet when I check the version it says I am still on 488.
