Hi, (just now getting home), but no I'm not getting it anywhere, not even optional
Try pausing updates, and then resuming them. For me this caused WU to check for updates again and immediately find that one. When I checked for updates manually just prior to doing that it didn't find it. My other machine that found it with one check for updates and filed it under optional updates as others have reported.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into that later when I get to my desktop.

    Thanks.

I got it. Came in while I was out. And yeah, it was under optional updates.

    Thanks.

I think it's strange not to show some kind of indication that the optional update is proceeding. Instead, you are just taken back to the update screen telling you you're up to date. A user with minimal experience might easily think it either updated rather quickly and is done or it didn't work. It fooled me until I opened the task manager to see the update service running. Seems a progress bar would be a simple thing to add....but hell we've waited almost a year for them to fix the optimize issue so....

Yeah - I got exactly same issue and it seems it is updating

This particular one was a Preview Cumulative Update. So being a Preview, it showed up in Optional. This seems to be new for MS, first time I've seen it. Like others, until you stumble across it there, or see it here, or read the fine print in the announcement, you would not instinctively know to look in Optional. Normal Cumulatives (not Preview) I would expect to show as they used to, under Check for Updates, indicating it was Optional. PT Security updates, and any other "life or death" update as determined by MS will not be optional anywhere.

    Really straight forward, ain't it?

Thanks for the info. I have updated. Before update, I made macrium Image. It was done in 5.5 mins. After update, I tried imaging. It was very slow. estimated time was 4hrs. Hence I decided to go back to previous image. Now it was also taking more than three hrs. With previous image 19041.450 back, macrium back up works ok. I think my Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB got affected by optional update. Going back in update solved the problem.

Lol. At least it's better than checking for updates meaning that you want to install any "optional" CUs which you had no idea were there until you checked for updates.

They need to give a progress bar for the background DL and install process.

The optional update (checkbox and hit ok), does work, just do that and walk away for 15min or so, it will give you a restart after done, but the issue is after you originally click to start the optional update it gives you the "your up to date" message, there needs to be a progress bar showing users it is doing it in background.
