KB4571744 (OS Build 19041.488) is displayed in Optional Updates on my HP Pavilion 570-p076na Desktop PC Win 10 Home 64. Once again my P.C. fails to install this 2004 Update - currently on 2004 (OS Build 19041.329).
Three previous updates also failed to install; .388, .423 & .450.
I was advised on this forum to execute an "In Place Upgrade". After looking into it (including Shawn’s detailed instructions) I don’t have the wherewithal to even consider it.
It was then suggested that I may have a damaged root authority - I don’t understand what that means, or how that would happen. I guess I’m not that concerned, as my P.C. seems fine – unless there are some security issues as a result of not updating.
Anyway, unless some can perform a remote desktop on my machine, it appears that this current .488 update also won’t be happening for me.

It is worth mentioning all the successful cases I have seen with the repair install (In-place upgrade) throughout this forum. It might look like a daunting task at first, but in reality it is a very simple procedure with the big advantage of keeping your installed Apps and data files; so nothing to lose.
The only beforehand measure is to do a just-in-case system image backup to protect oneself if anything goes astray.

Go to UUP dump and grab the 19041.487 scripts. Make sure you select the correct architecture, correct language and correct edition.
Once the script is downloaded, extract it to C:\TEMP.
Exclude AntiVirus scanning for C:\TEMP so AV won't interfere with the scripts.
Then fire up the Command Prompt with Administrative privileges. Navigate to C:\TEMP\[the name of the folder you just extracted].
Type in the name of the script with the word windows in it and press enter. Wait for a few hours for it to complete.
Now you should have a new Windows ISO image in the same folder. Navigate to the folder using Windows Explorer and right click on the ISO file (a file with size around 4GB) and select MOUNT. Now navigate to My Computer (the place where you see all your drives) and enter the virtual DVD drive and run Setup.exe.
Then follow the instructions to upgrade your system.
Make sure you select that you want to keep everything.
Then wait four an hour or 2 and your system should be up to date.
Funny little bug here! When opening search, the box turns white at the top and the usual grey box gets shifted over the white portion. Kinda hard to explain but it's not bothering... After that the shade comes in on the background edges...
I clean installed from the latest mct and updated with no problems
