What the hell is 'Microsoft Update Health Tools' that got installed along this cumulative update? And KB4023057 also got installed with it today, is this related? What's Microsoft planning on my machine here exactly?
    Kb4023057

KB4023057 is the installer for 'Microsoft Update Health Tools'. It's completely unnecessary for most people and there was one version of it in the past that broke the classic disk cleanup.

Where did you find this "Microsoft Update Health Tools" item listed/shown.
Yeas, it's in my Windows programs/app list after the updates I got today/yesterday (I got .NET framework update, this cumulative update and kb4023057) 'Microsoft Update Health Tools'.

If it's unnecessary, why did Microsoft install it for me? Haven't anyone else seen this? I can't be alone in getting this update? And what is classic disk cleanup?

Likely it gets installed for most builds that are out of date, like 1909 now. All systems that I've seen have gotten it if they're behind builds.

Uninstall should be painless and won't need a restart, or so it was in the past.

Am a little confused. Does this KB take Win10 1903 and update it to 1909? If it does, it is what I have been looking for!

Have 3 laptops and PC that I wish to get to 1909. Pending an answer I'll install the one from OP #1 for 64 bit.

If it's part of the process then I won't remove it yet (it's just going to install itself anyway I'm sure), but thank you for confirming what it is. It's just so annoying when I get things thrown in my app list without knowing.. Crazy that no one on 1909 has mentioned it yet though. The Update Catalogue doesn't mention this for 1903/1909 devices either. Hopefully Microsoft won't forcefully push 2004 soon, that is my fear because I see a few posts mentioning that this update seems to be installed after the feature update has been downloaded and prepared for installation. If I turn off my PC within the week and I see 2004 installed then I will be furious! lol.

No, this is for both 1903 and 1909. No feature update update. Update 2004 should be the latest one Microsoft wants users to be on.

1903 and 1909 have the same code but some features are not activated in 1903. There was a update that updated 1903 to 1909 that enabled the features.

KB 4517245 Feature Update to Windows 10 1909 via Enablement Package.

KB4023057 has never been a prerequisite for feature updates, it merely installs features that will free space on a system drive if it's too low for a feature update, essentially making room for the windows.old folder that will almost double the space needed by a Windows installation for 10 days. It gets installed regardless of how much free space there is, unless Windows is the latest official build.

Well, I can tell you that I have 546 GB available on my NVMe C: drive, and total over 2TB. I think Microsoft did an oopsie regarding my PC disk space then. Ok, so it's just a matter of time that more users on 1909 will get this update then, if there's no prerequisite.

Jim, are you saying to get to v1909 I have to install this KB ( KB 4517245 )? I need to get 1909 on my 4 systems currently 1903. My problem is a buggy 2004 version that screwed the pooch on the first install of the auto update to 2004 (10 home). I don't want the 2004 auto installing due to the problems currently happening on my network connections suddenly dropping out. It does reconnect eventually but it is way too annoying and I'd rather just get it to 1909 so it will not automatically dwnld 2004 (on two of my laptops). If this will not work, am open to suggestions on how to get to 1909 without clean installing (keep programs and settings). Thanks in advance!

IF this isn't the way to go, am open to the way to extend the auto install of 2004 on the 10 home and pro versions. Prefer a one solution fits all here seeing as 2004 craps out my network on the home version..
